Early Access Preview – Let’s Play Part 1 & 2

While we can’t give you the Early Access just yet, we can give you the second best thing: A new Let’s Play series!

The build we’re showing is pretty close to the version you’ll be able to get at release as we won’t add any major new features until then. We’re mostly bug-hunting, polishing and improving the overall balance of the game now.

So here are the adventures, fortunes and (mostly) misfortunes of “The Red Hogs”..

Thanks for the new Let’s Play, it’s awesome! And it’s gruesome as ever, poor Raganhar! To bad that the shield couldn’t save his life.

I saw some guy in the Youtube comments saying something about 15-20€ for the EA. Nope. I don’t know how good it will sell (as a niche product), but imho you should go at least(underlined!) with 20€ and/or something around 30€ for the final release. I’m not a marketing expert, but this game definitely deserves a higher price tag than 15 bucks.

Jaysen! Theses should get an Oscar… where can I sign up to join the Red Hogs :D?

This game should have a price tag close to 40 euro….. 30 for EA is fine but don’t go lower!

You and I, we would glady pay the 40 bucks without hesitation. But don’t you think that most people aren’t overhyped as we are?

I bet 90% of the questions on steam would be like: “when will this be on sale?”.

The pricing is a really touchy issue and can be very tricky. The game is not made for the broad masses. Those who want the game are more “hardcore” and will pay a higher price but the total number of sales will be rather low – still – if the price is too high you lose out on a lot of “impulse” buyers or people who just want to “check it out”. We will do our best to come up with a reasonable and fair price for all.

So i do not want to go into too much detail as this is a matter better discussed behind the scenes ;)

Having watched the evolution of digital distribution over the years, I have to say the risk of pricing too high is MUCH worse than pricing too low. Many different indie devs have related how Steam sales have resulted in staggering profits, even long after release. World of Goo made six figures from a single “pay what you want” (not Steam) sale over a year after it’s initial release.

Don’t sell yourself short as “hardcore” either. A great game is a great game (looking good definitely doesn’t hurt either), and will draw in people from outside the niche strategy community.

I think the biggest reward and harvest out of this game is that it will certainly put the three of you on the map!

I was hoping to see the new undead in action and here they are! Also huge battles seem to work out pretty well.

Nice fight with the undead there!

So, the living dead have a certain % chance to rise each turn, yes?
Do they rise with same full health, or did the previous bashing and piercing damage them any?
If a brother stands on a dead revenant, does he still rise?
And what if you stand on them and take their stuff when they’re down, do they rise and fight you barehanded?

Yes, the ‘Zombies’ have a certain chance to rise again after 1 to 3 turns for a single time (unless resurrected again and again by a Necromancer).

They rise with only 49% of their health and their previous armor damage, if any, sticks.

If anyone stands on a corpse about to rise again, they’re pushed to a nearby tile (as seen in the video).

If you take their equipment while they’re down, they’ll rise and fight you barehanded in the case of Skeletons or attempt to grapple and bite you in the case of ‘Zombies’. You can also drop a weapon you want them to use and they’d pick it up ;)

The game is looking excellent guys – keep up the awesome work.

Gotta say I really hope you guys make the flags appear when the battle brothers, enemies and allies get a moral bonus.

It would be epic if your battle brothers raise the banner for the red hogs when they were motivated ;)

One more thing that does not get mentioned enough, this was the first time I noticed how good and cryptic the campaign and battle music is!
