AdamTheGreatParticipant
Named bandits and orcs have already been implemented. I have never defeated a named orc, but as for the bandits, they do drop unique, or at least named, equipment wth better stats.
AdamTheGreatParticipantThe Devs have mentioned before that they want to avoid magic as much as possible. They atleast want to keep it out of the players hands, as they are simply human mercenaries in a gritty, brutal Medieval world.
AdamTheGreatParticipantA few of the weapons you mentioned are already in the game under different names. Some of the weapons you mentioned also don’t need to both be implemented. Claymores and bastard swords could really just be added in as one large sword. Dirks are knives, which are already in game. Military picks and halberds are also in game, I think. Rapiers wouldn’t fit in the game in my opinion, because they really didn’t see a rise in use until the 1500-1600s. They were better with the use of less armor and Battle Brothers is meant to be a gritty, medieval-style world. The ‘celtic sword’ and ‘viking sword’ you mentioned are confusing me, though. Both cultures had multiple styles for their swords, so which do you mean? Also, the game is supposed to have certain elements based off of real-world cultures, but without using the proper names because, after all, it is in a fantasy world. So really the viking and celtic swords could just be broadswords or shortswords.
I do like your helmet ideas and a few of those weapons.AdamTheGreatParticipantI just want to say that the devs have already said that they want to stray away from the player becoming a lord or anyone with a title. Having land can defeat the purpose of being a roaming mercenary company. I doubt they will change their minds in the future, the game will likely always just be a travelling band of warriors.
AdamTheGreatParticipantWolves are already part of the game for goblins. There have been quite a few topics on this forum about horses, but the developers seem skeptical.
AdamTheGreatParticipantI personally like the armor system. A giant war hammer, likely sheathed in lead to add weight, wielded by a strong man who knew what they were doing, could easily destroy any armor. Can you imagine wearing a suit of metal and getting hit straight-on with one of those? The armor would easily bend and it would likely dent into you, possibly causing physical injuries to your body. It would also make a large part of it useless, it wouldn’t make a tiny dent or hole.
AdamTheGreatParticipantI would love to see this implemented. I’ve seen arrows that are better suited against chainmail, some that are barbed to worsen the wound, and others that are wider to impact horses better (of course horses, as of now, are not going to be implemented). Seeing how your ammunition choice changed combat would be interesting. Fire arrows would also be a cool edition, although I don’t see how easily it could be added.
AdamTheGreatParticipantA more immersive form of diplomacy and politics is on its way. Houses will have purpose and I’m fairly certain wars in between houses will happen. However forts and towns will remain entirely AI-controlled. Being able to own your own land would defeat the purpose of a travelling mercenary band. The exotic merc idea is interesting, but I agree giving them an ethnicity found in OUR world would be silly because this is a fantasy game. Magic is a little iffy. The game isn’t an arms race, you are always supposed to have an opponent stronger than you. Becoming equal and above all of your enemies would make the game boring. For cavalry, I’m pretty sure I read that the Devs did not like the idea. It would be a bit harder to implement, although I personally like the idea, especially to improve travel time.
AdamTheGreatParticipantI know they made their appearance a few days ago, but the skeletons look terrific! I like their Germanic barbarian feel. They also seem much older and yellowed, rather than nice bleached bones.
AdamTheGreatParticipantAs of now I’m fairly certain conflict between the houses will be planned. However, joining a house or creating a house defeats the purpose of a roaming mercenary company.
AdamTheGreatParticipantI don’t quite know how well this would work. The game doesn’t have any real fluid movement and rather seems painted and still. A fluid death animation may be hard to achieve with the art style.
