Let’s Play Battle Brothers Part 1 (Pre-Early Access Version)

We are ecstatic to be able to show you the first full gameplay video of Battle Brothers!

This Let’s Play was done with a development build that is still very much work in progress. Although the game isn’t ready yet to be released at this point, it should already give you a good idea on what the Early Access will look like and how a campaign in Battle Brothers plays. This is part 1 of a small series and a couple of additional episodes will follow over the next week.

Excellent game! You guys are already sending ripples across the net, and many persons like myself will eagerly jump into early access for this one (even if we don’t usually buy until its done).

    My questions:

    1) For every game the world map will be re-generated right? That is best, it will reward those of us in early access as well. Will bigger maps than the one in the preview be possible within the game engine’s limits?

    2) Will there be mounted combat?

    3) Will there be enchanted items or magic? Or are you going for a more “Darklands” approach (I am one of the millions who have been waiting for a Darklands remake).

      Thanks! :)

      1) Yes, the worldmap is randomly generated for every new campaign, and so are the combat maps. The engine allows for much larger maps, but we found this size of the combat maps to work best. Maybe it will scale with different environments in the future (e.g. larger maps for dungeons you explore), though. The best size of the worldmap is still something we’re figuring out.

      2) To a limited degree. There is a single faction currently that employs cavalry, albeit not in the traditional sense. There won’t be cavalry for the player; we want to focus on the skirmish gameplay we have now.

      3) Darklands is actually a decent comparison regarding magic in our setting – we’re definately going for a low magic world. There are a few opponents that employ magic (e.g. the necromancer) and there will be a few legendary items with magical properties – but those will be rare and hard to come by. The player won’t ever be able to fling fireballs.
