That would be very nice!
There are some balancing issues, like, for example, how long a battle should last and how many players could enter into the fray, otherwise there would be battles lasting for hours, since many ppl around the map would participate in it after it has begun. Unless you can only join the battle at its start.
It would be ubber awesome to see your suggestions implemented, well, maybe some day it will, who knows?
