some banners have pointy tips, they are fine, but others such like the Celtic one which doesnt have pointy tip, yet still using that penetration like sound effect, kinda weird, dont you think?

So without considering that, the current implementation is better than the alternative, which would be to take up a merc hand with something that has little purpose in combat other than to provide a minor morale boost.

Imagine that the pointy tip is on the other side and they simply do not wave the banner while engaged in combat. It’s a game, and sprites are limited somehow. Sometimes it’s better to just ignore such minor facts.
Ooor… Extend the roster by 1 and make that 1 additional slot for a banner carrier/drummer or smthg.

The bannerman is draping the banner over the enemy’s head, and then quickly stabs the guy with his own weapon. This is all just occurring too fast for the player to see, of course.

5. March 2017 at 15:46 #20033le_souriceauParticipantI have other issue with flag.
While is fun and rpg-wise tempting to use it and show proudly in every battle, its mechanicly rather moderate weapon (while its morale + effect not so drammatic), not worth dedicated bannerman. Usualy it just back-up weapon for one of my archers.
So, my idea that banner must be buffed as weapon or as psy warfare tool (may be as some new abilities, to buff defence or offence of brothers or something like that).

Practical? eh.. maybe not, but just how it goes. I’m sure the intention is to have some trade-offs since the banner has the resolve buffing capability, however in my opinion I don’t think it really needs to have the tradeoffs. The weapon has to be held to receive the buff, and as a weapon it is mediocre in the mid to late game.
From a combat perspective it is outclassed by the pike simply by the pike having an alternative attack (push), and the longaxe and billhook (imo) are both better than the pike.
