If you’re reading this you’re likely aware of the importance of various buildings such as the blast furnace, ore smelters, barracks etc. The absolute WORST part of Battlebrothers is the map seed system, and its inability to set basic rules such as ensuring there is at least one building of each important type. I’ve seen seeds without a single blast furnace meaning that you’ll never have access to high tier armour; Maps with no Leather Tanner, so you never get proper light armor; maps with no military barracks so you never get access to good military background recruits; maps where there were around 9 castles and 2 villages and 0 cities; etc etc. Many players, myself included, spend dozens of hours trying to find an acceptable map by going through thousands of map seeds (I do actually mean thousands. Players have created tools to generate seeds and read some of their info such as how many of each building. I’ve had to go through 12k seeds and counting to find an acceptable map and still havn’t found one).
Prior to the first DLC I had found a seed I was happy with and played this game consistently. I have never played the game since the DLC was released and the map seed system overhaul occurred– because I can’t find good maps anymore.
SOLUTION:
Please adjust the map seed system so that it puts some basic limits in place. One of each important building is all I ask. I don’t care about trade buildings, I only care about the buildings that without which, I am forever unable to access certain equipment, recruits, or missions. I understand that one of the goals the Dev team had was to create a sense of randomization, but I think you can still achieve that goal while providing a good user experience by implementing some of these limits.
P.S. The FAQ section of the forums requires updating. It still has the clause that the Dev team will never allow players to have a character that represents themselves in the game, but we now have the Hedge Knight origin which does exactly that.
