I have noticed that there is difference in hiring price of the same class of recruits even if they don’t necessarily differ much in their starting equipment. Does hiring price reflects also their starting attributes? That is, should I expect poacher which costs 600 crowns to have better stats then another poacher who have the same equipment but cost 300? Or is it simply some randomization and recruiting cheaper one (from the same class) is always preferable?
Hiring price depends on level and equipment. Sometimes recruits come with weapons in their inventory. As an example: A hunter that costs ~1.5k at level 1 will have a Boar Spear in his inventory.
Just another reason why I do not play iron man. :P
I wish I could disagree with you. BB has a high level of polish, but I don’t think it’s tuned well enough that being save scummy isn’t justified. Playing BB could quickly become an exercise in absolute frustration otherwise. I’m still going to goof around with Iron Man playthroughs, but I feel 0 guilt reloading a save in a normal playthrough. Iron Man with the current tuning of enemy army spawns and the end-game crisis is really just for players who have the tolerance for the worst of the worst punishment.

Yes, cost reflects equipment. However I am talking about cases when equipment is the same or nearly the same, yet there is significant difference in the price. In the same settlement.
I just have serialized, that names of the recruits sometimes reflect on their traits. I have noticed it when I have recruited poacher with “the slow” in name, without thinking too much about it and he turned out to have trait which gives -10 initiative. Then I came across miner with “the brave” in the name and I thought, might it have something to do with his resolve? Sure enough he had trait with bonus resolve on him.
I started this game on Iron Man and have not deviated from it. Although I began playing this game on veteran iron man, I love the difficulty. It keeps me coming back for more. The longest I have lasted was 23 days and I felt accomplished because of it.
