I would like to change the folder the game reads & writes saves to.

I’ve stopped playing ironman because of the saving delay on leaving towns. I had the game installed on an HDD (let’s call it drive D). This is where my main steam install is. I have recently acquired an SSD (call it drive E), in which I have a folder “Steam Games”. I’ve added E:\Steam Games as a library folder in steam (Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Steam Library Folders).

I’ve reinstalled Battle Brothers on Drive E, but it continues to save games to the path on D (Documents\Battle Brothers\savegames), so my save/load times are still too long to make ironman pleasant. I found this steam topic from 2017 (https://steamcommunity.com/app/365360/discussions/1/144513248275243220/) where rap references a command line option, but I’m not sure if that’s really relevant or usable. It would be fantastic if I could just have the game use E:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Battle Brothers\savegames, but I don’t know how to make that happen (if it’s possible at all).

Could you (or someone) help me figure out how to resolve this? My suspicion is that this would work if I reinstalled steam itself on Drive E, but that’s not an option so I’m looking for alternatives.

    Thanks!

Update: Even if I do a separate install of the GOG version on Drive E and try to play that, it still points to the save games folder on Drive D. :(

You can relocate that save file directory to your new SSD with a symbolic link.
