I was just wondering if there is a pay cap for the mercs, in relation to the pay increase event. Its happened twice to me and I was wondering how far it would go.

I think the most it ever happened was about 4 times in one of my games *before* the last big update.
Maybe it’s a subtle incentive to spend on better upgrades instead of hording the loot?
In a single player game, there's no such thing as cheating. It's merely "creative manipulation of the default settings"!

This reminds me, it would be nice to have a CAptain of the Company character. I know that the FAQ says that we won’t be able to generate a fighting Captain, but having a captain that can level up and have some sort of stats (Charisma, for instance, to get better deals) that mark the advancement of the company would be great.
Not only we’d have a face in game (even if we’d never be on the line) but we’d get to decide how to improve our company over time (better prices, better logistics, better command, etc) it could even synergize with Camp Follower when/if they are added

I guess having a customizable portrait is the most likely thing we’ll see, but as one of those last editions.
The wages not being capped does make a kind of sense though, people always want more, and the cliche policy amongst an adventuring body is each man earns a share of the booty (i.e. 25% captain 25% officers 25% men 25% maintenance), and on that premise those men might go without pay for months with the promise of future riches.

Now that I can switch out the front line(s), I’m having a good time trying to ease new recruits up to the higher levels.
I’d be inclined to deck out my avatar with the best gear he could manage, so it’s probably a good thing I don’t have one. Come to think of it, I tend to play the founders as “equal partners”, so they tend to have the best gear. But, it’s always my tactics that make or break a contract, so I don’t miss a personal avatar.

Not that there won’t be a player Avatar.
Honestly, having a Captain would be interesting, his or her backgrounds would shape the game (what is easier for the company, what the “endgame” might be)
But Barring an avatar, I’d like to have Company upgrades, which would be more or less the same wit the exception that instead of being a person that is tied to the perks or enhancements, it is the banner.Yeah it’s off-topic but tiz a slight shame the devs are opposed to having a player avatar, maybe they’re worried players would be too protective over it on the battle-field? I think that was how Pirates operated.
9. September 2016 at 12:53 #17182SuperCaffeineDudeParticipantI miss it a bit in the story since it keeps bringing my person up, i.e you approach xyz, you drop a head on a desk, you like dropping heads on a desks.
I think it might be more flavorful to have a variable “string” for a name in those descriptions, alongside a little custom mini-you portrait to converse with the other portraits and bare your standard on the map. As it is I feel very removed from whoever is doing the talking for me, and that dude feels very separate to the company itself.
And then if that data then exists, would it be hard to implement a mode where you have a mortal battle-field presence, and tie the ceasing of his/her existence as a game fail state? idk, but I will say the captain in text does not seem like someone who takes a complete backseat in combat. But where does the buck stop I guess :/ .
…
Yeah some pirates vaguely used those sorts of systems, I would suggest, as something that might be cool or might scale horribly, the company could go by weekly payments, with lesser fixed income (than is current) topped up with a percentage of the week’s earnings. So taking on lots of hard work is good for their purses rather than something that should be avoided, and would perhaps balance better than a flat increase on all wages every day.
…
But I’m being very rude now to the OP :p sorry!
