For now travelling from town x to village y is a little boring, I would gladly see random events which gives you options to react for example:

    – traveling merchant needs our help with repairing his carriage’s wheel. We can ignore it but if we help him and spear some time and tools he will pay us with gold and can sell us random resources. Or it could be a bandit’s trap.
    – group of lepers asking for some food supplies, we can give them but one of our battle brother have chance to become leprous or they can give us magical necklace. If we refuse to give them food the can leave or they can attack us (they were cultists in disguise)
    – battlefield with lots of corpses and loot: we can bury them with their loot, or collect their loot or bypass it. If we decide to stay there is a chance that corpses are zombies or we can be surprised by military unit who will attack our band if we decided to loot corpses (they thought that we are bandits)
    – some prisoner left for dead in hanging cage, we can release him: he can join our team for free (new member with badguy profession like killer on the run, raider, etc.) or he may be vampire/werewolf and will attack us with his brothers (it was trap).
    – rich lady had lost her group in this forest we can escort her to her father, he can gives us gold or it could be trap or maybe she run away and want to become battle sister
    – one of our battle brother (especially drunkard) just trip and hurt himself
    – in the village one of our battle brother (rather killer on the run, raider, etc.) have raped/killed/stolen someone/something. Villagers demand to hang him for his crime. You can hang him or you can try to buy his life with gold or you can refuse villiger demand (in that case your reputation is ruined in this village or even they can attack you)

What do you think about it?

To a point BB also takes me back to the old Darklands and many of the situations you describe in your post were not that uncommon.

Without going too much overboard the already placed character backgrounds can also be re-used for events, such as Cultists generating covens, Flagellants in roaming bands, and robber knights leading deserter bands pillaging, etc.

NPC handing out missions in the open can definitely deliver a lot as well.

Beforehand I would like to see a penalty for dropped contracts, maybe tied to a company reputation ( which acts as a multiplier for contract money maybe ).

    All nice suggestions!
As we mentioned before, the event system will be the next big thing we tackle.

The penalty will come with the reputation system.

There should be more different weapons and some changes

    1) Knife/Scramasax instead of bypassing armour attack should have bleeding attack.
    2) Rondel dagger with better damage and with the same traits as dagger.
    3) Longsword – double-handed, less damage than two-handed sword (a little more than arming sword) but with murder strike (can stun enemy with pummel attack) and half-sword (can bypass armour or damage armour).
    4) Pike – double-handed, same stats like spear but damage a little less than billhook and reach two fields
    5) Halberd – like billhook but instead of hooking skill can crush shield
    6) Heavy Crossbow – more damage, more range, better vs armour but you need 9 AP to reload
    7) Longbow – more damage and range and better vs armour than hunting bow but is less accurate
    8) Sling – less damage than shortsword, but can stun enemy
    9) Pavise – for archers and crossbowman – for 9 AP you leave it in front of you, it gives the best protection from missiles
    10) Archer’s stakes – the same as pavise but you can take it back and it gives tou something like spearwall
    11) Poleax – two-handed, damage like billhook, reach one field, nice damage to armour 150%, can crush shields and can trip enemy (easy to hit him in this round)
    12) Polehammer – two-handed, damage like billhook, reach one field, 250% damage to armour, can destroy armour and trip enemy
    13) Billhook – also should trip enemy
    14) Brigandine – I’m not sure is there is this armour
    15) Plate armour
    16) Full plate armour

    My next suggestions:
    1. Utility Trait:
Sprinter – 2 AP cost and 20 fatigue, reduce all movement cost for -1 AP (1 AP per field minimum)
    2. Battle Brother should take more resolve tests (not only from ghost scream, but after seeing all super natural creatures and even when enemy have advantage like lot of better equipment or 2 to 1 more troops).
They should check their resolve. If they failed player lose control of them, but they should not always just retreat, remember old X-com? So not only flee, they could frozen and do nothing, they could go into berserk mode, they even could flee and throw away their weapon and shield.

1)I agree that there could be more weapons that deal bleeding damage, but armor bypass for these weapons is alright. It’s important to keep these low-damage weapons relevant.

2)Why not? Might be very similar to the shortsword though.

3)The longsword was not a two-handed weapon. I think there are already plenty sword types in the game, but maybe the falchion could become a weaker war cleaver and the longsword could take its place.

4)Yes, please! More ranged melee weapons are planned.

    5)Yup, why not?

6)Instead of higher AP cost, I would add more fatigue with each reload, so you can still fire one shot each turn and reload. You’d just tire faster.

7)Shouldn’t be better against armor than a hunting bow. Otherwise crossbows become obsolete. Otherwise yes, I’d like that. Maybe call it a warbow instead.

8)Yes, please. Maybe as a weapon for a barbarian human faction.

9)Instead of leaving it in front of you, you can place it on the field you are standing. Every unit standing there counts as partially in cover. Also it can only be carried with both hands.

10)Adding obstacles to the battlefield sounds a little OP. Maybe it could just slow down attackers.

    11)There’s already a two-handed axe. It’s fine.

12)Two-handed warhammers would be cool, as long as they have an respective high minus on the max. fatigue.

13)Tripping enemies. How different would that be from stunning?

14),15) and 16): There won’t be armor types from the 14th and 15th century. If the game had it setting in the real world it would be somewhere between 1066-1300AD.

There will be more monstrous enemies added later.

You are wrong, it’s very agile and fast two-handed weapon, of course you can fight with one hand but you’ll lose all advantage, and there are some techniques with only one handed attack.

6)Instead of higher AP cost, I would add more fatigue with each reload, so you can still fire one shot each turn and reload. You’d just tire faster.

Heavy crossbow requires windlass or cranequin to draw, it’s not very tiring but it require a lots of time so 9 AP is more realistic solution. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J3qMzQlITI

12)Two-handed warhammers would be cool, as long as they have an respective high minus on the max. fatigue.

I’m not talking about heavy fantasy two-handed warhammers, I’m talking about this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92_TKngfYFQ
It’s not so heavy as you can think.

13)Tripping enemies. How different would that be from stunning?

It could decrease enemy AP and gives bonus to hit him.

There will be more monstrous enemies added later.

I know but I’m talking about every supernatural creature like all undeads and verwolfs. Morale and panic efect could be use more often.

I have some solution for level cap. At level 6 there is 1st exp cap, your battle brother should find proper trainer in city/castle and pay for some instructions 1000 crowns. At 11 level is 2nd cap, and training costs 2000 crowns. After 11 level every next level has own price, and after 11 level you gain perks only half time (on 13, 15, 17, 19 level, etc) and next level is more expensve (+1000 crowns). What do you think?

Longsword: Yes, I looked it up, you’re right. It’s a two-handed weapon indeed. In that case it’d fit nicely into the game.

Heavy Crossbow: That, I do know. But how would a cost of 9 AP play out? That way you can only shoot every 2 turns, and part of these shots will miss. Unless the crossbow is extremely powerful I doubt it is actually worth being used at the moment.

Warhammers: That would be a nice addition! Even better than these fantasy things.

That’s the point :) It’s extremely powerful weapon, better range, better damage, better accuracy, better armour damage :)
But if BB world is rather like our XI-XII century than this weapon should not be implemented (like full plate armour, and many anti-armour weapon).

I do agree on lifting the exp limitation and did write about somewhere already. But not sure about giving perk points at all, that would make the brother inhumanly skilled.
