Throwing weapons have a highly limited stock that needs to be replenished by buying generic ammo kits, and yet you can get your hands on rare bundles of axes/javelins that do exaggerated damage and/or have an elevated chance to hit the head, even once the original axes/javelins have been thrown and replaced with generic ammo. You could say that throwing a weapons usually doesn’t make it “dissapear” at the end of the battle.

Especially well crafted and uniques throwing weapons would certainly carrefully searched and refurbished after battle.

In that case “ammo” work like “tools” useds for repairing armors and melee weapons.
