FozParticipant
Hey there Paul, great work as usual! Any spoiler on the new available recruit backgrounds? There was nothing about them in the dev diaries so far, maybe you could post some icon art at least :P
About the retinue units, will they work like nameless inventory items or will they have events and etc? Will they just be represented as the character art you already posted or will they also have their own ragdolls(for events and etc)? I also wonder if they add to the consumption of food, have their own wages and such.
Also probably not the best time to make requests, but have you looked into being able to add the dog armor to the wolf? As it is he is worse than an armored dog and cannot be upgraded, which kinda of sucks considering he is supposed to be the best canine unit in the game and hard to get(right?) :(
FozParticipantHey Paul, that “zweihander” image from the latest blog post, is it from a new event picture? I don’t remember seeing it in the game.
FozParticipant+1 to sallets with facemask being awesome. They were quite prominent in my favorite game ever as well(darklands). We may be asking for too much though, only two weeks till release and Paul has already provided a lot of requests :P
FozParticipantThose helmets look great, even better than skullcaps :P
Will they work with the paints?
FozParticipantHey Paul, stupid question and I’m pretty sure the asnwer will be negative, but here it goes:
Now that dog armor is an attachment, will you be able to use it on the wolves? I have no idea if the assets are compatible, I just remember how disappointing it was to roam mountains with my houndmaster and after finally getting the event, finding out that the wolf is actually less powerful than an armored dog.
If it requires too much fumbling with the assets or remaking them disregard the suggestion :P. Maybe keep it in mind for a future patch or dlc.
FozParticipantIt could be both a solid helmet alternative for nimble frontliners and an entry level helmet for others. Less protective than nasal helmets with coifs but much lighter(less fatiguing).
Right now planning equipment for a dodge/nimble build is a pain specially because of shields and helmets. Shields I understand(they are fatiguing to use indeed), but there should be a hard helmet alternative that doesn’t come with a -5 to -7 fatigue penalty. I don’t mention body armor because Paul already showed the high end light armor variations coming in the expansion. Also in theory having a viable light helmet is more important for a nimble build than armor(unless you waste a perk point on “steel brow”).
FozParticipantAny chance you might add skull cap, cervelliere or some other lightweight cheap helmet? I feel it is the only thing missing in the helmet transition(you go from padded/leather to nasal helmet).
If light armored builds will really be viable in the new update such a helmet would go well with it :D. Think of the Almogavars!
FozParticipantI hope you’re not disappointed, but this is the upgrade I am referring to.
It’s cool :D
Will more faces/heads be making into the patch/dlc?
Also, will enemies(brigands, mercenaries, etc) carry or use the attachments?
FozParticipantCool enough. Would you mind some spoiler about how the craftable(or non-craftable) “armor plating” attachment will work? Will those be like cuirasses or scale vests crafted from monster hide? Will we get some common ones you can purchase in shops(metal plates as in the “coat of plates” top-tier armor or some other attachable vest)?
I ask because you guys have showed screens of pretty much all types of attachments(dog armor, shoulder pads, cloaks, rivets, etc) mentioned except this one. Nobody would mind one or two screenshots if possible :P
FozParticipantHey Paul, some questions about the armor attachments:
– From what I understand from the dev diaries, you will only be able to use one attachment per armor. Is this correct? Was this due to clipping/graphic compatibility issues(i.e: using two different types of shoulder pads and getting wonky looking clip as a result)? Or due to balance issues?
– All in all I must say it is pretty cool that you managed to make the attachments universal, with no clipping issues or any of the sort, even with the limitation of one attachment per armor. Did you have to tweak/modify the graphics on some of the original armors in order to achieve that?
– Are the attachments permanent or will you be able to remove/exchange them at will?
– Will the simple attachments you can buy in shops include cloaks made of fabric? Might seem like a silly request, but those fallen hero armors that have them on look pretty badass and you already have the assets. It would be a cool cheap customization option for mercs on a budget or to use on armors which are already too heavy(obviously a cloak of fabric would add pretty minor/insignificant bonuses).FozParticipantLooks pretty much like the famous Emperor Constantine’s statue:

FozParticipantAwesome, thanks for the replies!
FozParticipantThose shields look great! And no problem about the negative answers, they are all understandable design choices.
One last question, about the new armor attachments: Will they be universal? Say, can the shoulder pads and metal rivets be used with every and any armor? Or do attachments only work with some specific armors?
FozParticipantAlso, any chances we will get heraldic/colored tabards as armor attachments/customizations?
FozParticipantHey Paul, awesome artwork as usual! Can’t wait for the dlc. A few questions about the new “paint” customization options:
– Will every available company banner have the option of painting shields with the company logo?
– As for painting helmets, will we just have the old 4 options(black, blue/white, red/yellow and green/white)? Or will we have color options compatible with each available company banner? I ask because several banners have different color combinations. Also, will there be any new banners aside from the Kraken one available for the supporter edition?
