Happy holidays, everyone!

As a special treat we have a preview video showing many of the new features and changes on the worldmap of Battle Brothers in action. Just keep in mind that all of this is still work-in-progress and will receive more polish as we go.

The worldmap update is a rework of the entire strategic part of the game. This means a lot of changes that are all interconnected and can’t really be separately released from one another. The big update containing all of these changes will be released in February 2016. Following this, we’ll go back to smaller updates again with less time in between.

    Thank you for the informative video. If I understand correctly, in february, we are waiting for a new map, the new system of contracts and reputation, and various noble houses faction “people.” Changes in the combat system, perks, leveling mercenaries would not be? It would not be at all, or will not be in this update? The system of new contracts and a hypothetical war with looting from the new houses will have an economic effect on the map?

      That’s right, the focus of this update is on worldmap gameplay and the things you’ve seen in the video. Changes to perks, leveling or combat mechanics, except for some minor fixes, are not a part of this update.

    Still no mention about Reputation/Renown system. Contracts system look still very basic(the Company look more like band of armed thugs than military unit), no bounties and contracts are just single missions.
    Food system with spoiling look better but its doesn’t look like quality or type of food effect anything and some things are just nonsense(like grain having 7 days expiry date).
    I still hope that local Inn will not only give possibility to rest but also to obtain some information, maps, sidequests(no Contract one) and maps for treasure hunts(aka SM Pirates).
    Faction politics look interesting but I hope that human forces will be upgraded because now they are a joke9even zombies laugh at them).

      I am pretty sure some of that stuff was actually covered:
      “… and contracts are just single missions.”
      Didn’t Jan explicitly state that contracts will have “twists and turns” to them in the video? He even gave some examples of how they can develop.

      “Still no mention about Reputation/Renown system.”
      From the video at 12:04: “How far we can push depends on the character and of course on our renown.”

    Can we expect more (preview) videos before the update is released? Like some pre-release in-game presentation of one of the developers playing the game? I would greatly enjoy a mini-series like that.

      Absolutely, that’s what we’d like to do as well! We’ll see about whether we make another preview video in the style of this one or an actual Let’s Play series again as we get closer to the update release.

    Merry X-Mas Everybody… All good and well – was hoping for some information on the skill system as I still think that it will make or break the game… Not really complaining, but indeed was so much thinking that you would have sent us a real game-update as christmas present :-( It would have been my very best present!!! Anyway, please let us know some things about what you plan for the perks! All the best for the holidays!!!

    The Update look fantastic :), the tiles look awesome, loving the localized region names, settlement screen looks loads better and like that some armor and weaponry will have usage on it already and be more localized making it a little harder to get. The map generation also looks really good :).

    I did have a few questions though, I noticed the different sized settlements will they change in size as the game progresses depending on trade/ raids on the settlement perhaps meaning that settlements that didn’t have an armorer may have one later in the game and vicaversa? Do faction leaders that are killed get replaced by others to keep the family going? You said faction leaders could be fought along side and killed, will that just be in scripted contracts that involve that family member or will they just be doing their own thing on the map and you can encounter them defending settlements or maybe whilst assaulting others as well as in contracts?
    Can’t wait to have a play with the new update, look forward to the new years update preview video, ;) ;) :) :)
