PsenBattleKeymasterFor example, the Heraldic mail, will we see greens, red, blues and so on?
Absolutely. I am going to adress this during the worldmap rework.
Well, I can see a striking resemblance…
Haha, especially the face :)
PsenBattleKeymasterVery lovely. What’s that a Ku Klux Klan guy, third on top? ?
That’s the head piece for the “cultist” background :)

PsenBattleKeymasterHey guys,
thanks for all the kind words, that really helps me out right now.
I pushed the number of armors in the game from 23 (before the rework) to 40. Although this includes some color variations its still quite a jump :)
Unfortunately the fun part (painting the armors) is over and I am now working on the dead body versions of all armors which is not fun at all.
Thats why there is nothing fancy to show today, well see if there is something tomorrow. Also, a question, is there a nasal with closed ventail (mail?)
The helmet rework is still pending, I may add that helmet (no promise though :)
do those colored and clothed variants ever made it into the game?
I didnt forget about these. I will try to get them back into the game with the big worldmap and factions rework.
… now, about that skunk in the heraldry
The new banner system got put on hold for now as “nice to have”. I may take suggestions for Banner Emblems when I start working on the final system. I’ll let you guys know.
Cheers!
PsenBattleKeymasterDon’t most men wear the belt to the left?
I thought so too, but found plenty of reference pictures with the belt in all directions so I decided to not really bother about it and change it around for a littel optical variety.
To be on the sure side I’ll make them all left to right now.
PsenBattleKeymasterHey Death,
maybe I have been a bit misleading :)
The worldmap rework refers mostly to game design. Size of the world, factions, contracts, reputation – goal of the game.
I am a real big fan of the Medieval 1 Worldmap as well, but the basic style we have now will stay the same. At the very beginning of our project we experimented with a “drawn map” style, but it didnt really work out…..Haha I just found this old mockup I did:

PsenBattleKeymasterIndeed. I recall someone making a post that certain weapons are not as effective when used against certain types of armor. It could mix very well with what you plan to do while giving weapons even more diversity. But I guess it’d be best to wait for the content before judging anything.
We have been discussing this in pretty minute detail and already have a concept in mind we would like to test.
I cant tell yet when or even IF its going to happen. If we implement it, it will most probably come with the big worldmap rework.Cheers!
PsenBattleKeymasterWhat about making lighter armor increasing melee defense bonus and/or decreasing the chances of being hit while moving through enemy control zone(s)?
The problem with a def bonus would be the early game. People start out with pretty low melee accuracy and they all wear the lightest armor in the game. Battles would drag on forever without anybody hitting anything :)
A Def malus for heavy armor would be possible. Of course that would be another restrictive mechanism which never feels very good…
PsenBattleKeymaster@Trig:
We are already tweaking the game balance a lot for the upcoming Goblin Update. There are many factors playing into the heavy armor issue. For example there is no enemy weapon progression at the moment. Thats why orcs will one-hit you in the first encounters, because their weapons are designed for late game battles.
All of this and more wil be remedied slowly but surely :) The Goblin update will be a big step in the right direction. On top of that have a look at the reworked tunics:

PsenBattleKeymasterWill the stats especially the max fatique penalties get a rework too?
We’ll see how that works out. In general it will make more sense to not stack the heaviest armor you can find on everybody. But all numbers will be tweaked again over the course of the next months, so don’t worry too much :)
Only a few armors today, as I have been working on a lot of “secret stuff” for the next update ;)
The one on the right is a coat of plates without the cloth cover.
PsenBattleKeymasterBut it is a lesser armor than the heraldic mail isn´t it?
We will change the order of some of the armors. Heraldic Mail will not stay at the top of the armor progression, which makes sense if you just take a look at the reworked scale and lamellar armors :)
is this the only intended version or will there be ‘brand new clean’ version of armors, which eventually degrade to shabby look as youк brothers wear it to battle, damage and repair?
That sounds like an awesome concept. Have you played Farc Cry 2? You could see your weapons getting dirtier with use and if you didnt clean them they would get jammed when firing or even exploded. This immersive and awesome feature unfortunately never appeared again in any shooter as far as I know.
Although something like this would be fun and technically doable in BB, It would mean a lot of work for me and I can’t afford that at the moment. You do make a horned helmet for this game as a rare named item, however, Paul?
Theres none planned at the moment, but who knows what will happen? :)

PsenBattleKeymasterAre these entirely new mail shirts? Or do these replace the scale and lamellar armor?
Armors 3 and 4 (this is basically 3 with a surcoat) are new. We had a long chainmal in the game design from the start, but somehow it never got implemented :)
Armor 5 is the Coat of scales which is already in the game butI changed the look quite a bit.why are you reworking BB armors?
Apart from the long mail shirt its just cosmetics. After going fulltime I can deliver a much higher visual quality and I want to get the old stuff up to par.
Here’s a little comparison to illustrate my point:
