Overhype just anounced on FB and Twitter that permanent destruction will soon be optional! Yay

    I’ll just quote ForumDweller here:

Allow enemies to raid towns and villages and castles, but have them stop once the outer dwellings have all been demolished. While not very realistic, it’s the quickest and easiest way to retain crisis events without permanently destroying settlements. Furthermore, this approach is quite balanced because it robs players of valuable resources, but not to the point of no return.

Devs said somewhere that making the cities rebuild themselves (let alone make missions for it) would be too much of a workload on their sole programmer. I don’t really get that as it is probably the biggest problem with the game, but it’s understandable.

Maybe for now we should be asking for some temporary workaround like having “War” repeat itself. Better to miss out on 2/3 of the late game content than on all of it with “No crises” option. (??)

    Thanks for “encouragement” :)

I’ve already begun a new challenging campaign. It really is quite tense :) I’ve lost eight men in defense of a village; second wave with no time to heal or repair is brutal. But we couldn’t let them burn.

It’s going to take some time before I dare to rename troops after my real life friends.

    Anyway, thanks again.

I’ve played 70 ingame days on beginner Ironman. Never encountered skeletons, vampires or ghosts. But I can reliably wipe the floor with bandits, goblins, wolves and small bands of orcs. Now I’m getting into the grindy part of the game – getting heavier armors, best weapons, looking for talented soldiers. So before I commit to this campaign, I’ll probably reroll for higher difficulty so it stays tense and dangerous.

My question really is; How likely it is to get wiped out on challenging difficulty without your own fault? Like unavoidable ambushes from powerful creatures, crazy autokilling crits etc.

Thanks. I’m definitely going to try more heavy troops with greatswords. It’s only natural; in reality people with plate armor rarely wore heavy shields.
