Longbows would be great against armored opponents.
Could offset their power with reduced accuracy (you needed a lot of training) + fatigue cost.
kjellstorParticipantI think the devs have said that they’d like to add women at some point.
kjellstorParticipantSorry didn’t see your response until now. Maybe I should drop by more often :)
You bring up some interesting points. It would be cool to get mercenaries with different types of incentives for being with the band. Maybe you could save someones life, and they would be with you for free out of debt and loyalty? I don’t think it would be very fun if your mercs retired, however :P But maybe they could use some R&R from time to time, though they get downtime between missions, especially if you need repairs and healing.
I still think weekly (or maybe even monthly) wages would be nice. And some sort of budget view. Like: Total money: 1400 Balance this week: -200
So you could try to get in the green each week. I think it would make it easier to manage your money in regards to buying gear and stuff.Or maybe learn something from X-com. At the end of each period (weekly or monthly) you get Money earned from contracts – wages. So the money you have is money to spend, in a larges degree. Unless you don’t make anything one period, of course.
And… I wish supplies was incorporated into the wage, as it is basically the same thing, and not especially fun to manage. I pay them, let them buy their own damn food :P
kjellstorParticipantI would think there’s a lot of X-com fans being drawn to this game, myself included :)
Battle is not like chess though. As long as your careful and pick your battles, you’ll avoid a lot of deaths… I especially try to avoid betting the life of a brother on a single dice throw, even if the chance of hitting is 90%. Have a backup plan. But it would be nice with a defense bonus or something if you choose to flee the battle (a bit like company of heroes), so you don’t risk your entire company being decimated if a fight goes down south. It’s easier to flee a battle in X-Com, as it is ranged combat mostly.
kjellstorParticipantHow about instead of being random, the stats are maxed out if you’ve actually used that skill a lot since last level up. So if you try to level up the melee stat of a guy who’s only used bows, he’ll get +1. A guy that’s constantly engaged in melee gets +4. (or whatever you set to be max)
A guy that carry lots of gear/uses lots of fatigue gets to max out the fatigue stat, etc.
(Personally I’d love for stats to be increased after each battle, X-Com style)
kjellstorParticipantNot trying to hijack the thread, but I had some thoughts on this in a topic I posted a couple of days ago: A different take on money (wages)
Would be interesting to hear what you think.kjellstorParticipantRegarding the perks:
We decided to have some very needed basic “fixes” like nerfing Perfect focus. We are on the case and we are going to rework most perks in the near future. Lots of them will be completely exchanged or modified.
I just have to ask for some more patience in this regeardHi, I just want to ask this regarding levels (sorry if you’ve mentioned this somewhere else):
I understand capping the amount of perks you can pick in the perk tree, or else you’d just max out the entire thing. But have you considered letting the player continue to level up the stats (even just by a tiny amount each time) after level 11? I just feel kind of “sad” when a character can’t progress anymore, and it would feel awesome to have a level 30 super veteran, even if he doesn’t have that much better stats than a level 11 character. Or do you prefer that the “levelling” after level 11 is done through gear alone?kjellstorParticipantUPD2
About hairdressers.
I think over time, you need to remove them from the function of facial changes and add fees for services, even if symbolicWhy? If you prefer not to customize the look beyond hair, you’re free to do that, don’t need to take away the other customization options for everyone.
I’m loving the update. The world feels a lot more alive now. A sellsword decided suddenly to leave my group unless I paid him 41 crowns per day (which was the amount the entire rest of group was making combined), so he was kind of an ass :P
I’m wondering if we eventually will have the ability to level up the characters’ stats beyond level 11? (I’m fine with a limit of 10 perks)
kjellstorParticipantI’m pretty impressed with your ability to churn out high quality artwork like this. Like the style!
