Yes. 10% of remaining armor durability is subtracted from the ignore armor damage.

THANK YOU! I always suspected but was never certain. Very nice!

Be aware of high ground – if you can, take it. If an opponent with multiple Crossbows has a height advantage against you, I’d strongly consider retreating and reengaging.

In my experience, that means guaranteed death for a front row bro before you can retreat and reengage, haha. Still, I haven’t had nearly as much bad luck with crossbows as the OP, and I’m playing on expert but not iron man. Newbie archer killed by one headshot before I can get steelbrow and anticipation, yes, but so many headshots in a row on an already well statted bro with anticipation and ranged defence, no. That really doesn’t happen. Normally the enemies decide the high ranged defence bros in the back row are not worth shooting at and shoot at my highly armored brothers with kite shields in the front instead.

…. ah, maybe that’s it. If you make your back row a poor target, enemy archers and crossbowmen will decide (quite rightly) that the front row bros are better targets. Did you dedicate ranged defences stats to your front row bros? That may be the problem.

Agreed, the tone of the writing was carefully chosen to suit the content and it really brings the tone of the setting through!

    It’s a game, not a simulation. ;)

It’s a game set in the historical setting.

Ghouls, orcs, magic… the setting in BB is hardly historical! And talking about simulation or lack-there of, there is no penalty for not sleeping every day because it would be boring to wait for your bros to sleep everyday. There is no penalty for not getting a balanced diet. You cannot really survive on only grain everyday, but the game doesn’t care. Managing the diet of your company is not the focus of the game. Do I need to go on? Gameplay is more important than realism.

I think what you are trying to say is something like the possible danger of encountering something you absolutely cannot fight in the early game ADDS to the excitement and how it adds to the flavor of the game experience and makes your victories feel sweeter. Horrible things happening to you through no fault of your own is something you’d expect in a game of the harsh life of a mercenary company. Or something like that. Hrm. I think I can accept that.

Forests are bad, always makes me twitchy when traveling through one :) Which bye the way reflects well on the historical accuracy of the game because back in the time, people feared deep forests.

    It’s a game, not a simulation. ;)

I’ve been playing with a save slot just for those special occasions when the completely random factor screws my playthrough over haha. The early necrosavant group is one of them. They’re pretty ridiculous to be spawned early on.

Nono, I’m NOT asking for CUSTOM colors. I meant change the colors to one of the colors made available. Basically I want certain brothers to be carrying shields of a certain color. Alternatively, folks may want all their bros to use shields of the same color/pattern. It’s like how the all the soldiers of a noble houses have shields bearing their colors.

Rhomphaia, ancient Dead two-handed sword (at least I think its ancient dead. Got it from an event)

Honor Guard’s weapon. There is also 2-handed Cleaver (Crypt Cleaver) that has same skills as normal cleaver and Split Shield. Rhomphaia is like a Warbrand with better armor effectiveness (like all ancient dead weapons) and a 2-handed polearm that has an AOE skill (which works amazingly against Monsters and zombies). It’s also really great to level your new guy and support your Greatsword guys. And pikes and onehanded cleavers (from Honor Guards and Necrosavants).

I can see if I can make some screenshots if you would like :).

Well, sharing is caring! :) But give the wiki a try: I post here cos I can’t seem to edit the wiki myself.

Keep in mind that retreating from combat no longer incurs DEATH, only temporary injuries. Furthermore, you only get injuries for brothers who are not on the sides of the map. In fact, ancient auxilaries have such low initiative you should have no problem reaching the edge of the map with your whole team.
