PsenBattleKeymaster
Hey Vendelhelm,
your art is pretty good already. I especially like the full plate armor on the first picture. I’ll post a picture of a random assortment of helmets without background in original size for you.
As you might notice the original size is pretty small already. The final assets for the game are resized and refined versions of these helmets.
When scaling the helmet down I always use a few filters to make them pop out a little more:
If you are working with Photoshop i suggest a small black “inner glow” to serve as an outline. On top of that try increasing the brightness, sharpness and contrast a little.
Sometimes it’s a good idea to enhance shiny metal with an “overlay” layer. Feel free to include a little color (blue or brown) in the overlay layer.I hope this helps, you’re painting some pretty cool stuff already!
PsenBattleKeymasterHey Varhagen,
thanks for the kind words!
I can’t reveal yet what we are working on. It might still take some time before we announce anything, so I have to ask for your patience at the moment.Regarding other humanoid factions like Elves and Dwarves I have to say that they still don’t really fit the Battle Brothers universe – at least in my opinion.
One of the basic premises for the whole game is that the player only controls regular humans without any magic or other special feats. With these simple means he has to stand up against supernatural, powerful forces of all kinds. This contrast is very important for the feel of the game and I think if the player controls anything else than simple humans it would soften up this basic premise.I hope you can see my point.
Cheers!
Paul
PsenBattleKeymasterHey Muzgob,
I really can’t say right now, because I don’t know yet. The latest DLC surely added a lot of brightness, which I think is nice for mixing up the visuals a bit. But I can see your point.Hey Andrew,
I saw these quite a while ago. Up until now I don’t think these armors fit well in the “visual timeframe” of the game. On the other hand I don’t want to rule them out forever, it all depends on how exactly they get implemented in the game. For example in my opinion we did a pretty good job of implementing firearms without making them feel out of place in the Battle Brothers world.Cheers!
PsenBattleKeymasterPsenBattleKeymasterHey guys, here are a bunch of nomad cloth sashes:
Regarding the pet wolf; there won’t be any armor for him, but we found a bug where the wolf would have only normal wardog stats. He should be quite a bit stronger than your average wardog.
Cheers!
PsenBattleKeymasterHey dervis,
the trader origin renown gain has been adjusted, as well as all other origins renown starting values.
Apart from that there are a bunch of new ambitions which will help gaining renown in other ways than fighting. For example there is one ambition to buy/sell a certain amount of trade goods.Cheers!
PsenBattleKeymasterAbout the retinue units, will they work like nameless inventory items or will they have events and etc? Will they just be represented as the character art you already posted or will they also have their own ragdolls(for events and etc)? I also wonder if they add to the consumption of food, have their own wages and such.
Hey Foz,
the camp followers only have specific costs and requirements to unlock, after that they have no upkeep. They do not appear on the tactical map, their role is supporting your warband outside of combat. That’s the big difference to your normal mercenaries. Also probably not the best time to make requests, but have you looked into being able to add the dog armor to the wolf?
I’ll check in on that, no promises though :)
PsenBattleKeymasterHey guys, sorry for not replying earlier. Here we go:
I realise it is too early to soeak about future expansions but I had this idea… what about an expansion which introduces far east? Medieval china / india / japan style culture would make a fascinatinig addition to the east of the game world and would help introduce the game to the asian audience ;)
I honestly can’t tell right now what the future holds in store for us. We have to finish this DLC right now and then see what the next steps are.
Hello! I like the
game very much. And I especially love Your art. Tell me, please, please, will be someday the custom banners? I would gladly support this work with my labor rubles. We toyed several times with the idea of a banner creator. There are a ton of issues though. Because all banners also appear as ingame items/weapons and come in various shapes and sizes it would be quite a big undertaking for us. On top of that it requires a lot of UI work and so forth. I don’t say it’s impossible, but we would rather create new content and game mechanics with the time we have at hand.
Hi mate, hope you guys are well. The community is really looking forward to the release in August. Also once again you did an amazing work on the new nomads faction. Great stuff! I wanted to ask if there will be new food items in the expansion? If so, could you please share some art work with us?
Thanks a lot! Of course there’s new food:
Brown rice, dried lamb, dates.
Cheers!
PsenBattleKeymasterPsenBattleKeymasterPsenBattleKeymasterIf possible could you please share with us some art work on new treasures / valuables and trade goods?
Sure thing!
Have a look at a bunch of new valuables:
Here are the trading goods; incense, silk and spices:
Here are the according attached locations where the trading goods are produced:
Regarding the Ipad port, it’s something we can’t tackle right now, but depending on the reception on the Switch we might consider it in the future. We’re taking one step at a time :)
Cheers!
PsenBattleKeymasterPsenBattleKeymasterPsenBattleKeymasterHey Paul, could you give us a present showing a nice piece of armor? :) If not, no problem.
Sure thing,
here are some city state armors for the Gilded.I’ll try to post some new stuff here again. If I don’t do it – just poke me :)
PsenBattleKeymasterI would like to ask what do you think about a possibility of a company banner created in cooperation with community. The basic idea is that through either voting or open brainstorming the players help to create a design of a banner that can later get drawn with your skilled hands and implemented in the game.
Hey Mike, sorry for not answering earlier.
Thats something I can’t deliver right now. As you suspected I’m fully occupied working on the new DLC.
Quite some time ago we already did something similar, I may miss some banners, but if I recall correctly these four were designed by players:Sorry i posted so late as i discovered this game a couple of months ago, and what really REALLY hooked me was the visual style of the game, i would say it’s the best i’ve ever saw since FF tactics, just registered to post this lol.
Thanks a lot man, great to hear that!
