    The warping orc.
He was standing at point 1, my spearwall anticipating his charge at 2. He did exactly as predicted, but the spearwall bounce didn’t damage, but teleported him to 3 instead. And the archer there was all like wtf???

    Oh, just another suggestion.

The F12 key that Steam uses for taking screenshots also opens the console on Battle Brothers, so then F12 has to be pressed again to close it, which then takes another screenshot.

Could you perhaps make all keys configurable by players, or move the console key to the key above TAB as it is in many other games?

And the “WinXP” thing is cause (I don’t know why) it reduces the UI lag as written about some posts above. Otherwise there is a 1-2 second lag between clicking something and an action happening, which can be pretty annoying. A similar thing happened with another indie game I played (Streets of Chaos) only there the lag was 5 or 8 seconds, making the game unplayable, while setting to run as WinXP reduced it to 3-4 seconds.

In all such games that I play, to get better attachment to my troopers, I usually name them after my friends or some othe rpeople I identify with. More than the stats in these starting characters I care about their looks, so that they resemble some of these people and that they have the character traits of some of them (asthma included). It’s not as much a balance issue as it is an identification issue for me, why I would prefer a more detailed character generator.

Just randomly, but not all the time? Is there any way to reliably reproduce this? Is it only with specific saves, or all of them? Thanks!

Most definitely if I retreat from battle, then want to reload a previous save. If I quit to main menu and reload there, it works fine.

    7. Loading a save from within the game often causes game to crash. Loading the same save from the main menu works fine.

Were you fighting ghouls? I had similarly several crashes with one ghoul left.

A disowned noble and his disgruntled comrades, set out to prove they were wrongly disowned…

I’m getting load crashes too and I am running as Admin already.
I get them if I load a quicksave from within the game. If I exit the game and load from the menu, it loads fine.

It likely just went lower down in your inventory list. Scroll down.

I agree on implementing some sort of character generation for your first 3 characters.

I don’t think former millers, grave diggers, deserters on the run would be starting a mercenary company. They’d join it later, sure, but usually it’s ex-soldiers that start such businesses. As it currently is, I just kept restarting the game until I got the first 3 that I was generally able to identify with, which is not th emost optimal way to go about it.

So the player could likely be given a character setup menu where he can mix’n’match his the head of a character, pick the name, possibly write a short background, then select from several military/noble/business-like main backgrounds (better ones, with better gear, like ex-militia, ex-soldier, swordsmaster, errand knight, disowned noble cost more to maintain or even take away more of your starting cash than if you pick some less prestigious ones at start) and one or two additional characteristics, where if you pick a negative one, you can pick a better positive one. Fallen Enchantress had this very nicely done when designing your starting character. You get 2 points to spend on characteristics. But if you pick a negative one, you get an extra point. Something like that…

    Build 0.4.0.18 Early Access (SuppEd):

    4. The lag apparent in battle too. When one Brother is done, it takes a couple of seconds before the next is ready. Also clicking on the target lags a second before the action happens. (this didn’t happen in the combat demo)

    5. Graphical anomaly:

(there was some blood on the ground which got replaced with the anomaly)

    Build 0.4.0.18 Early Access (SuppEd):

    1. Missing Fangshire on release day. Apparently due to Steam/DLC issues.

    2. Normal graphics speed, but sluggish UI response. Dragging a piece of equipment in inventory and dropping it on a Brother had a 1 second delay. Changing the executable to Run as Administrator removed the lag.

    3. If a Brother’s name is A, but you change it to B, his background story still says A. Not really a bug, but immersion breaking. Perhaps put the name variable into the background description too?

jimcrowley: Agreed. And if it’s not, there’s always the possibility of just roleplaying your character “realistically” and imposing “house rules” on yourself, taking all these limitations into consideration. It’s how I usually play games anyway, while others get a kick out of exploits, cheats etc, which is legit too, as long as it’s fun, which is what games are supposed to be anyway.
