    Screw that.
I gonna get some ice cream and chocolate.
I don’t want your game at all.

lol, that sounded like a girl on her period :D

That is fitting. Consider that this studio come from Germany.

I tend not to equate nazis and Germans (and besides we were also occupied by Italian and Hungarian fascists, so it’s an international thing anyway). Nazism isn’t a product of Germany as much as it a product of sick minds of sick people, so I think no liberation is necesary here, since the devs seem to have rather healthy minds (except when they rename perfectly decent Revenants into Wiedergängers :P )

We planned that all along 😉

    I never doubted it :D

A bit of useless info: In Slovenia we celebrate 27th April as a holiday “The Day of Rebellion Against Occupiers” (in memory of the WW2 rebellion against the nazi-fascist occupation), so I find the release date rather fitting the theme (of violent strife against forces of evil). :)

You’re an impatient fellow, aren’t you?

    It’s not 27th in Hawaii yet. :P

A goedendag would make an interesting addition too.

Sling could be really cool. Those things were deadly as hell, and could even puncture armor.

Hmmm… never heard of them puncturing armour. Got any source?
They could probably stun, like Sar suggested, but only if it’s a headshot.

I think the knife and the dagger should also have their AP cost reduced to 3. It’s a light, fast weapon, you likely would get 3 strikes in with it in the time it takes to swing a sword twice.

Of all the ideas tossed around in this brainstorming, I like the fatigue penalty one most.
Having a sword and dagger on your belt wouldn’t slow you down much. Having an orc axe and a crossbow tied to your back probably would…

My experience with not starting, there and back again.

    1.
First I tried installing 0.1.1 demo off ModDB
    http://www.moddb.com/games/battle-brothers/downloads/battle-brothers-combat-demo-0-1-1
It installed normally, but when launching it would crach immediately and go to a log html which was just blank.

    2.
Reported the issue to the devs, my Geforce GT330M card was blamed, for supposedly having only OpenGL 2.1 (as some specs say).

    3.
Tried several configurations and OpenGL forcing software, game still wouldn’t run.

    4.
Ran GPU_Caps_Viewer_1.23.0, cause it’s database said my card should run OpenGL3.3 and sue enough, sinvce I’ve had updated drives all along it swoed it did:

    5.
Downloaded the demo again, this time from Battle Brothers website. When installer asked me to launch game I said yes and got this error:

    6.
Was about to give up, since I was planning to get a new computer anyway, but I elevated my office chair to max elevation, launched with desktop icon just once more, to be sure, to be sure.
And out of the blue, the game RUNS!!!

Weird, huh? (How did the game know my chair wasn’t all up? :P )

I’d agree with Jago on this one. Space means pause in most games… Are keys not configurable?

@Trig: This may look somehow familiar to you

    Impressive! :D
But Teofric, who was the chronicler in Bogenheim at the time, actually wrote of Tristram Abbey, which is, as you well know, a wee bit north of Bogenheim. :p

Ah, very splendid. The options really are limitless then. I hope you guys aren’t too sucessful with this game. We don’t want you quitting work on it, selling it to some major label that’ll mess it up and moving to a tropical paradise for the rest of your lives. Selfish, sorry. :p

I Have to agree that the Hugo-ratio is not really satisfying in the current build ;)

Too many or too few? Generally, nothing wrong with the name Hugo. Very international.

There’s no thunderstorm yet but it’s on the todo list. Weather currently doesn’t have an actual gameplay effect (though nighttime does), but like Jago quoted, it’s something we want to do as well.

If horror films have taught us anything, it’s that the undead must feel particularly comfy in thunderstorms. ;)

I’ve been mailing something similar with the devs in the past, as I too strongly support the variation and name diversity.

My reasoning was that if units look like generic north-central european ones, therefore using gear that was worn from Scotland to Poland, from Sweden to Slovenia, then the names of the brothers should reflect that.

Although it’s a question which variation of the name should be used, since most languages had their own variation of the same name, such a Mícheál, Michael, Michel, Mihál, Mihael, Mihajlo, etc. or Stiofán, Stephen, Steffen, Štefan, Stefan, Stjepan, etc.

Here’s the list I suggested, which is a balanced mix of Scandinavic, Germanic, French, Norman, Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Welsh, Romanic, Slavic and Christian/Biblical names:
“Sigurd”     “Siegfried”    “Benedict”    “Teoderic”    “Harald”    “Ludovic”    “Sigbold”    “Gregor”   “Cedric”    “Gunther”    “Egon”    “Friedrich”    “Boris”    “Olafur”    “Knut”    “Baldric”    “Aldric”    “Arthur”    “Agnar”    “Ulfberht”    “Tostig”    “Bertram”    “Albrecht”    “Baldomar”    “Brian”    “Erwin”    “Arnold”    “Edmund”    “Arnulf”    “Vladimir”    “Bjarni”    “Henri”    “Alrik”    “Hubert”    “Berengar”    “Ernust”    “Robin”    “Horik”    “Gerhard”    “Lutobor”    “Bogdan”    “Alexander”    “Iulius”    “Gottfried”    “Peter”    “Martin”    “Ferdinand”    Dominic”    “Gerold”    “Gerulf”    “Patrick”    “Karl”    “Bjorn”    “Dagobert”    “Erik”    “Philip”    “Hakon”    “Fergus”    “Randolf”    “Rollo”    “Leif”    “Torstein”    “Radomir”    “Ivan”    “Reynhart”    “Baldur”    “Olaf”    “Egil”    “Magnus”    “Gunnar”    “Georg”    “Jan”    Torvald”    “Bernhard”    “Einar”    “Ragnar”    “Dimitri”    “Eberold”    “Bertwin”    “Reimund”    “Wolf”    “Eberhardt”    “Hugo”    “Johannes”    “William”    “Haribert”    “Engelbert”    “Francis”    “Gawain”    “Torkel”    “Dunstan”    “Torleif”    “Erhard”    “Valdemar”    “Ulf”    “Otto”    “Hermann”    “Heinrich”    “Halsten”    “Edward”    “Eadwulf”    “Aldemar”    “Hrothgar”    “Leofric”    “Lothar”    “Manfred”    “Dietrich”    “Wulfric”    “Sigmund”    “Kurt”    “Volkun”    “Ulrich”    “Grimald”    “Berthold”    “Alberic”    “Bertolf”    “Walter”    “Humbert”    “Adelmar”    “Konrad”    “Radulf”    “Rudolf”    “Adalbert”    “Hjalmar”    “Reiner”    “Roland”    “Alfred”    “Tristan”    “Robert”    “Wolfram”    “Andreas”    “Reynhold”    “Raimund”    “Dylan”    “Roderic”    “Jakob”    “Llewelyn”    “Richard”    “Geoffrey”    “Leonard”    “Gabriel”    “Michael”    “Augustus”    “Frederick”    “Edgar”    “Stephen”    “Victor”    “Conan”    “Maximillian”    “Leopold”    “Nicholas”    “Urban”    “Clement”    “Sebastian”    “Anton”    “Christopher”    “Gustav”    “Thomas”    “Oswald”    “Marcus”    “Abelard”
