Hey guys, glad you like it.
For the next video I will record my photoshop interface as well. This would give you more detail on what exactly I’m doing, but might be a bit “hectic” to watch.
I cant decide what format I prefer.

    Cheers!

Any chance we could get a version of this image without the title?

    Hey guys,
heres another time lapse video. This time the new “campaign lost” screen. Don’t worry, I’m sure you guys wont see this very often :)

It almost makes you want to lose at least once ;]

Thanks for time lapse video. How many hours did you spend to draw the “campaign lost” or “retirement” screens? :]

It’s actually a pretty short time, around 3 hours recorded.
Of course thats not totally accurate. You have to add time for research and preparation. On top of that the time to edit and render the video.
Overall that adds up to around 2 days of work.

    Cheers!

    Hey Paul,

    very nice, as always!

At 0:35 you have added the wrong text to the picture. ;P

The lost-screen looks like an inside job. ;P He must have been striked down by friendly fire.^^
I don’t recognize that guy’s armor. Does that mean we will get an additional armor for our mercs?^^
Come to think of it, shouldn’t the “campaign lost” screen better depict many striked down/dead humans, since it is necessary that all the squad is killed in order to lose the game?
If you would like to fix that, I think a “cool” and “easy” fix would be, to have an already dead human’s head or limb in the foreground, instead of the grass; and maybe some more scattered weapons, to give the impression that, outside of the scope, one would see a battlefield. Right now one is prone to think, the depicted person was shot on the run and is about to die all alone.

Some ideas unrelated to the points above:
What if the downed guy would also spit some blood? I would like that. In my opinion, it would emphasize even more, that this guy actually hasn’t given up yet, that his will isn’t broken yet, but his body, that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, so to speak.

As for the ruined buildings, what about adding stains of fire damage to some of the windows or the holes in the roofs? But then again, if there would have been fire, then most likely the whole building would have burned down, unless the residents would have extinguished the flames in time.

    Hey Paul,

here some oddities I noticed recently:

The settlement screens do look cut off at the sides, (the link below each picture shows it in a bigger size)

    http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/225571399402585193/C3DEBF92ED38300BC13820FE2980CA923000C36A/

    while other screens do have a wood frame of sorts (, since there is always left some space to the edges);

    http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/250340129858408340/4F2ADFEFF3B446596B4D5E8CD76F456CA42AEFEB/

or in the case of the inventory screen even a metal frame to round off those screens.

    http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/105103639954558312/CA31E0232B294F84EAE8A0D6DC734F7AA879E11E/

And why actually is it that only the inventory screen, among all screens, is framed by the statues? Why not adding them to all screens, when they don’t fill all the monitor screen?
I think the statues would do a good job to conceal that harsh cut at the settlement screens. What do you think? Here a crude photoshop edit as an example:

    http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/105103881930898968/C95F1FFD60A08A2B6911D8D86F62FAF193C94B81/

(Looks like I didn’t scale the cut out part big enough, since the metal frame from picture beneath is visible.)
    Another thing I noticed:
How come the village screen and the inventory screen don’t have the same size? I thought the size of those screens is supposed to be the size of the smallest supported resolution?

At 0:35 you have added the wrong text to the picture. ;P

I think you mean the placeholder text. While I was painting the final text had not been written yet so I had to just put in some random stuff to get a feel for the look.

Right now one is prone to think, the depicted person was shot on the run and is about to die all alone.

    Everybody dies alone :)
No but seriously, I intentionally showed a lone guy crouching through the undergrowth before breaking down and giving up. I wanted to convey a feeling of desperation and hopelesness.

As for the ruined buildings, what about adding stains of fire damage to some of the windows or the holes in the roofs? But then again, if there would have been fire, then most likely the whole building would have burned down, unless the residents would have extinguished the flames in time.

The ruins will have smoke coming out of them for some time after beeing destroyed. I still have to see them implemented and then I will make some more adjustments if neccessary.

here some oddities I noticed recently:

Can’t say whats the reason right away. We’ll have a look at it when we find some time!

    Hello Psen.
Good to see your new work. Excellent like always.
Can you share some more info about destroyed settlements?
Specifically if there will be possibility to reclaim them and rebuild?
Do ruins can become infested by faction who destroyed them or generic beasts/bandits/undead?
Do you plan throw few ruined settlements for a player to find and help reclaim them or help noble houses expansion?
I have also question about events that precede invasion and settlement destruction.
Could it be predicted like getting courier from noble house who will ask for help or some plans that are recovered as loot from battle against enemy factions? Also do these events happen separately from player activity or they are only connected to it?

Also I must admit that I really like this armor dying soldier wear – isn’t this old plate coat? Are you plan to add it again to game? Would be great.
Thanks for your work. Hope to see more soon.

Yes and no, it depends. In this fridays blog post we’ll explain how it works.

Do ruins can become infested by faction who destroyed them or generic beasts/bandits/undead?

Also yes and no :) Sorry for not beeing more precise, but this will also be explained in the blog post.

Do you plan throw few ruined settlements for a player to find and help reclaim them or help noble houses expansion?

There won’t be ruins right from the start (at least we did not plan that yet). Nevertheless Noble House expansion is something that will happen during certain late game crises.

Could it be predicted like getting courier from noble house who will ask for help or some plans that are recovered as loot from battle against enemy factions?

Yes, there will be events and other signs foreshadowing a late game crisis.

Also do these events happen separately from player activity or they are only connected to it?

Can’t answer that one yet, ask me again after friday :)

Also I must admit that I really like this armor dying soldier wear – isn’t this old plate coat? Are you plan to add it again to game? Would be great.

It’s a combination of chainmail and leather armor which doesn’t exist in the game as of now. It’s just artistic license at the moment. If I find the time I will try to push in as many equipment items as I possibly can before release :)
