kingslomeinParticipantI’m fine with not having magic. My brothers still do just fine. The dev’s are doing great and I hope they keep it up!
kingslomeinParticipant@sky: Can’t wait! I remember reading something about this a while ago.
@Rus Bear: Great idea!
kingslomeinParticipantHello, long time forum lurker here. Just recently started to voice my thoughts and opinions.
More Merc Bands!
Maybe group battles over the same target, and fight over who gets the ‘proof’ or head.
Spoiler Alert: this happens.
High stakes gambling!
Good idea, mid to late game gambling for 5 gold is a waste of time.A base!
This has been brought up, it’s something I personally would love to see. Give us something to work for besides just better gear. I believe this may not be something the dev’s are planning however.Crafting/Such things!
I mean, we could really use a sorta ‘quality’ on the items.
They have these already in game. Both named and certain “High Quality” Weapons/Armor. Check the weaponsmith and armorer everytime you’ll see em. Or you’ll get lucky in combat and get one. I don’t feel that the addition of crafting will have a huge impact on the game.
Research!
I don’t feel strongly either way on this.Non-Battle Skills!
Agreed highly. I have posted this same thing a few posts down.Hunting!
Meh.Sieges!
Yes plz. Or at the very least combat in an urban setting.More Races!
Pretty sure the devs have said this isn’t happening. Maybe you can hope for this in dlc later on.More Beasts!
Not enough beasts, I agree. Remember this is a low fantasy setting.Politics!
This is a work in progress. The beginning portion is already in the game. Just need to get further in, and develop more relations/renownA log!
Yes Please!A way to raise base default level of relationship with a faction!
So.. Say a Town is being razed, and I save all the fools; Let the town/faction level for me be raised, like bench marked at a certain point. So they know, Hey I saved you all. Love me. And it won’t degrade below that point!
Yes to saving town, getting relation. No to not degrading below a certain point. What if you later raid the town, etc.
Default Combat Unit Placement!
Yes Please. There has been a lot of talk about this. I’m sure its something there working on. This could be tied into the skills outside of combat, or a hireling, etc.More Combat Pets!
MehBetter Skill try!
Would love some more work to be done on the skill tree. The bigger the better. Love building my brothers and trying different builds.Barracks!
They plan on implementing something like this. But not a stationary structure. Something more like a supply train that follows you around or is part of your actual group.Better Exploration!
They have this in the game, albeit a little basic. I always hop onto mountains for a second, as it will greatly increase my LOS. Also they have enemy camps/dungeons hidden, just have to find them. The bartender can give you hints. Also I would love for the watch towers that we see to act the same as a mountain, minus the slowing of your troop on world map.All in all some good points here. Sounds like you need to get a little further in your game however. Happy hunting.
kingslomeinParticipantGreat idea merlion74. You should be able to combine bundles of arrows/bolts.
kingslomeinParticipantMeeky Post +1 as well.
I have almost no problem with most of this. I’ve gotten very good at determining what contracts I finish and and can’t finish. I have only once, had to cancel a contract. And the very nature of this game is going to have 2 types of play, save scumming. Or Ironman’ing. Everyone is going to play the way they want.
P.s. I’ve been having a great time with throwing weapons. The core of my shield wall is made up of Witch Hunters (one town had 3 of them for hire!) They have good melee and ranged attack. Quick hands obviously. Anything without a shield dies before it get’s to make contact. Usually.
kingslomeinParticipantSounds like a good idea. Or something to keep spending your gold on once your brothers are lvl 11 and have the best gear.
kingslomeinParticipantB) Destroy a bandit camp that gets a bandit leader as part of an event (only occurs when you have the destroy-a-bandit-camp job). Bounty Hunters attack after the fight while you’re still repairing gear / licking wounds.
This is the only time I have lost more than 1 or 2 Battle Brothers in a game at once. Both times this happened to me I lost about half my brothers :( and had to recruit from scratch. It’s mainly because my brothers were all wounded after the bandit leader fight. Good rewards however.
kingslomeinParticipantFor what it’s worth, both my games on challenging difficulty have been fine. Day 90+ one game 1, and day 50+ on the other. Yes its hard, and sometimes I lose brothers of course. But for the most part I’ve been able to survive. I am however picky about what contracts I take.
kingslomeinParticipantI believe once you get high enough rep with a certain Noble house they give you contracts to attack villages and troops of other noble houses. *Note* I am on day 90 something and I haven’t had this happen yet. But I’ve heard it can in the forums.
kingslomeinParticipantYeah it’s a little similar to what’s in place in M&B, It could be different as well. They could be NPC’s that you hire that don’t enter in combat. Be part of your “baggage train” Like a tracker, or medic etc. Just an idea.
On a side note pcgamer.com put out a 40 minute long video of M&B2 gameplay. It looks amazing. :)
kingslomeinParticipantNight time makes them so much easier. I would say during the night time 8/10 times the goblin ambusher will come into melee range on his own.
kingslomeinParticipantWow I didn’t know that until now. Thanks.
3: related to the 2nd point, maybe make on-site blacksmith repair can convey some bonus to dmg (like professional sharpening) for limited number of encounters? This will differentiate Tool maintained weapons and Smith repaired ones at a town – especially if it’s more costly to do so at the town/city.
This is a great idea. Maybe not even a set number of encounters, could just be first 5 hits, or such.
kingslomeinParticipantambush of 18 mercenaries for sending or 18 bounty hunters – is a scripting event that occurs regardless of on what you are trying to bypass the woods. I conducted an experiment
This must be bad luck? I have ran over 10+ delivers in my 2 games, both on challenging. Haven’t had that even happen once.
The only time I’ve had a fight happen from script, is after killing a bandit leader and a another mercenary group tries to take his head.
kingslomeinParticipantEven better: change your pikes to crossbowmen with pikes in reserve. That way you get more shots as forces close, then the crossbows switch to pikes once melee begins.
I’m finding that to be extremely effective for myself as well. This makes them more practical in night battles as well.
I have half of my shield brothers as skirmishers as well, with javelins. My game seems to have an abundance of witch hunter back grounds. So I’ve found they make ideal skirmishers. So far there ranged attack has been high 40’s and low 50’s, while melee attack has been in the low 50’s as well.
kingslomeinParticipantI have started 2 games so far. I’m enjoying both! Loving the new patch.
In my first game, the beginning quest was on a small island. I was worried until i realized my brothers could just walk across over to the island. Must have been shallow enough I guess. I will say in that in my first game it seems every city/town I go to there is always one or two quests. In my second game right off the bat I noticed a scarcity of quests. I had to travel past 4 city/towns in order to find my first quest after the starter. I play on challenging difficulty on both.
Overall I’m really happy with the game so far, and love the new patch.
At first I thought the goblins were way to over powered. But the more I play the more I realize how to counter them. Now they aren’t so bad. My 10 Brothers just fought 2 goblin camps back to back with not a single loss, being out numbered each time.
