The problem for me is, that after battle the screen tells me that I lost a guy named Adelbert. But I would like to know how long he was with my mercenary band, what equipment he had, how I skilled him and so on. I can only look at the armor the corpse has and if it was quite the bad armor it had to be a new guy. I am at day sixty-something now and I only know my founding members by name.

I always name my brothers after family/friends and things. It gives me a more personal feel for my brothers, and helps me differentiate between them and remember which skills i was going for.

    1. The Goblins are very hard. Several factors come into play here. First, my guys can’t get close without getting shot or netted. And that’s key to beating the goblins, getting close to them. It seems almost impossible to take on a goblin force larger than my own. I can’t get close without losing a quarter of my strength. Second, my archers are no use against them. And third, my chances of actually hitting them when I get close is less than a human opponent.

Yes the goblins are hard. But they aren’t that bad if you know a few tricks. Fighting them at night makes there archers switch to melee 8 times out of 10. When I do this I have my archers switch to pole-arms and seem to be able to cut through goblins like butter. However I’ll admit getting caught in the daylight buy a pack of goblins is the worst.

Another possible solution, whenever a brother level’s up, 3 numbers are randomly chosen. These you can allocate as you see fit, with a few exceptions. Maybe only 1 or 2 fours’s possible to be rolled at once. Also maybe the 4 would be highlighted in red, or some color to indicate it can’t be spent on Melee attack/def.

This would allow the player to spend the high rolls how they see fit, according to their build.

I came across a goblin stronghold (13 goblins, mostly skirmishers/ambushers, with a boss-man type thing). I don’t remember the name, but his crossbow would nearly 1 shot my troops AND send them flying back.

    I had 6 brothers vs 13 Gobbo’s. I tried. I cried. I raged. I tried harder. Then I beat them.

I ran through this same thing, almost gave up. Checked forums, saw this post. Tried and tried again. Finally I did it! I figured it out! HAHA Dirty goblins, dont like the night much do they haha.

I don’t have any problems with the current system. Sometimes I get 1’s yes, and it can suck. But this is why it’s important to find brothers with high starting stats. It’s one of the things you work towards the entire game. Once you have a full 12/12 squad, and they are actually surviving! Then you start picking the weak ones who don’t fit your “build” and replace them and build up one or 2 at a time until you have a carefully chosen team. It’s realistic, every character is different, just like it would be in real life.

Also the strategy I use at the moment is; assigning all the points, cancel, do it again, pick the highest 3, or sometimes just suffer the +1 Melee attack.
