Paul, the modern vampire is no longer in the game? they will replace the Sectarians?
If Yes, then that’s a shame.Hey there,
the Necrosavant is the new vampire. The vampire until now did not have any real faction alignment and stood pretty much all alone. He didnt have any real purpose apart from just being there for the sake of having a “teleporting” enemy.
I personally dont think the old visuals are so awesome that they shouldnt be replaced.is it possible to leave the game, the old image of the necromancer is a good character, worthy of its place in the game.
The necromancer just got some additional visuals, he stays exactly the same as before.
I heard the Ancient Priests helmets are not lootable and wearable by one’s mercs. I think that’s a real shame and a waste of potential. Would it be possible to add their helmets on top of (rusty) mail coifs (or another fitting helmet) to make them wearable by humans?
I decided to not make the priest crowns lootable as it goes a step too far even for crazy mercenaries. The crowns are very iconic and unique to a certain enemy type.
If we will have something similar I would rather add more unique helmets taking it in the “crown” direction but still featuring a “mercenary style” look.I am very confident that I will be able too squeeze in a few more sets of unique armor before the release.
Regarding the names of the Orcs and Goblins. You are making a lot of cool suggestions, but the more I think about it, the less I am convinced that we can get away with just changing the names. These two factions are obviously Orcs and Goblins and it may even look silly if we try to give them some other name.
Kinda reminds me of Games Workshop calling the “Orcs & Goblins” “Orruks & Grots” in Age of Sigmar (I suppose some kind of copyright issue or smth?). I think its pretty hilarious…..7. November 2016 at 15:32 #17892Holy.DeathParticipantQuestion about Orcs – are war paints for them still planned? I am asking because Dev Blog #83 kind of reminded me of the need of being able to tell to which side each particular Orc in the Battle of Orcs belongs.
7. November 2016 at 16:01 #17893EldarParticipantWhat about making the Ancient priests crowns lootable as treasures, would be a good way to counter the high risk – low reward problem. Digging the new vampires, will they cooperate with the ancient dead or have some kind of “helpers” by the way?

I like this idea very much!! I wish the we had a base or headquarters to store loot we don’t want to sell, like a trophy room. Maybe if you clear out a ruined fort or castle you could spend money or trade resources to repair it and station men there to guard the gear or train new recruits there in relative safety. I think this would be balanced by making repairing these places was pricey.
8. November 2016 at 17:29 #17896SuperCaffeineDudeParticipantPoor warhammer :'( Yeah I’m pretty sure it was souly a copyright issue.
Yeah the look of the goblin/orks is quite hard to do away with, in a different hue maybe the orcs could wear a different title, but the goblins with the large pointed noses and ears are very hard to think of as anything but. For me it’s just how skilled and lethal the goblins are that clashes with the troupe of them being a high quantity low quality race.
The “Ghouls” could be anything though, the classic ghoul is a nimble gangly humanoid, whereas yours are quite stout and demonic. So I’d resuggest something like “Carrion-Fiends”, or something more germanic/latin.
With the lootable crowns, idk I think if we just get something generic like “Ancient-Treasure” we can kind of presume there’s looted crowns and jewelry in the pile. And maybe something similar could exist with the orks like “scrap-iron”.
Arming our mercs with crowns might be good for a laugh, but mechanically and contextually it wouldn’t make a lot of sense, I could see myself using the bronze armours and weapons in a pinch though. The crowns look great though, I love the vibe you’ve given the faction.
9. November 2016 at 04:14 #17900Love GunParticipantI browsed a little and found: “chrēg” (= war; Old High German). (I think the plural form then should be the same as the singular form.)
In my opinion, it sounds good and goes nicely with the Orcs’ lore. For completion’s sake, I’d like to add that my suggestion means to pronounce the “e” short (, since I think, the thingy above the “e” is supposed to make the “e” pronounced long). So it can be spit with all one’s contempt like “Dreck”(in German) ( http://www.dict.cc/?s=dreck ), hence it would be written “Chreg”.

Though I like its meaning, in my opinion, “Carrion-Fiend”‘s ring is too slick and not edgy enough.
Paul,
I’d really like to know what name you (guys) gave them. ^^
However that be, have you something new to show? It’s been a while, since you did.9. November 2016 at 11:49 #17902PsenBattleKeymasterWhat about making the Ancient priests crowns lootable as treasures, would be a good way to counter the high risk – low reward problem
Sounds reasonable, maybe we do it like that. Another solution would just be having them drop more treasure loot in general.
Question about Orcs – are war paints for them still planned? I am asking because Dev Blog #83 kind of reminded me of the need of being able to tell to which side each particular Orc in the Battle of Orcs belongs.
Its not planned anymore. I somewhere mentioned that I changed my mind about that. I dont think you should be able to tell them apart. Just like watching a fight between two groups of wild monkeys, no human would be able to tell who belongs to which group :)
I wish the we had a base or headquarters
There won’t be a base in this game. Maybe in Battle Brothers 2 :) It doesnt work in the game we decided to make here, but it would make a lot of sense if the whole worldmap etc would work differently.
it’s just how skilled and lethal the goblins are that clashes with the troupe of them being a high quantity low quality race.
Yeah thats the problem. We should have known that if we make “Goblins” the people have pretty exact expectations. Our goblins dont meet these expectations so people get mad.

I am working on a bigger “Artwork”, thats all I can tell for now. It took me last week and it will take the rest of this week. Beginning of next week I will get back to more frequent updates.
I am really eager to show you the big piece, but it will take some more time.Cheers!!

Let’s just pretend you posted that yesterday. ;P

Your taunt was successful, here’s something I did this week: reworking our Logo a little.
For more info on the “artwork” you’ll have to wait for the blog post tomorrow :)Cheers
17. November 2016 at 19:39 #17959KreuzbergerParticipantI miss undead without jawbones. That could make the “faces” of the undead more diverse.
18. November 2016 at 03:34 #17960scarynedParticipantThis title looks so cool. Really brings out the grit of the game compared to the old one.

Very nice!
Is it only me or are the visible weapon parts not in a straight line, hence the weapons crooked/curved?An idea I had yesterday:
What do you think of a unique dagger (skin) made of a Nachzehrer’s horn/tooth/fang? Now that they have such big/long horns/fangs/teeth, I thought they would make a cool basis for a dagger.18. November 2016 at 16:57 #17977MalthusParticipantHmm sounds like something a witchhunter might craft^^
"I am a Paladin!"
>OMG, Malthus, there are no damn paladins in Battle Brothers...<
"OK, OK! Then I´m a wrecked down minstrel drunkard pretending to be a paladin, singing so wrong in the midst of battle that even the undead run in fear... Better?!"18. Sounds neat :) I’ll put it on my whishlist.

Cool.
By the way, awesome work on the new key visual!
(Although I desperately miss a “Fatso-Nachzehrer” there, it would have earned a prominent spot (;and Goblins are also not represented). They remind me of Dungeon Keeper’s Teufler(/Bile Demon) ^^) -
