If anyone is experiencing this problem please post here and state what anti-virus software you are using (if any).

I’m going to experiment with my McAfee settings and see if I get any results.

Rap – I’ll email a save game file over on Friday.

Well attaching all this is harder than the early game. I’m going to email it to Contact@Overhype.

    Guten abend!

I had a crash to desktop (CTD) when trying to load a Veteran Ironman game for the first time. This occured directly from the main menu. I’ve updated my driver for my main graphics card and restarted the computer. No luck. I’ve attached my dxdiag, log and screenshots of the pop ups that happened before the CTD.

    All the best,

    Ieuan

+1 to the enemy factions in the ledger
-1 to the detailed statistical recordings of knows areas, general faction size

I’m a fan of the element to which memory informs decision making and your world is largely limited to your line of sight. I enjoy moving moment to moment with the company, at best able to plan as far as my next tactical upgrade, at worst desperate for income to keep the band together.

Of course, being the player’s ledger, the ability to type notes in would be welcome. Then you could record that you sighted a Raider band of 7 patrolling in X area at Y date.

If I was fleeing in fear for my life, whether or not i held on to my shield would be entirely dependent on context. It might be that dropping everything possible and running would save me. If I’m under fire, I don’t think I’d let go of that shield for anything – I can’t sidestep a cross bow bolt when jogging, but a big shield would cover my torso.

There should be multiple possible outcomes as to what a character does when he (she in the future?) routes. Example:

    (a) No weapon drop
    (b) Drops one item
    (c) Drops all items

I really like the way you tie the origin of the company to the story of the realm and why it is how it is when we enter it as the player.

I’m not sure why the Order of the Sun wern’t executed on grounds of treason, but hey ho I’m still with you story-teller.

Definitely check out the developer blogs. The first point from your 2nd post have been directly addressed (hurrah!) as has point 4. I can’t find the comments addressing points 1 but I know I saw a dev say that you would no longer have to click multiple times around an enemy you are pursuing. Try this dev blog out for size in terms of improvements to enemy factions on the world map: http://battlebrothersgame.com/dev-blog-83-enemy-factions/

Unfortunately it’s wait and see with point 3. I would like to see the people and creatures who compromise individual war bands retain their skins, health status and equipment load out if you fight them again. Is it possible given the way the game is built on generating maps from pre-fabbed tiles and stats? Who knows.

For what it’s worth I’m heartily against the idea of a tutorial. The game forces you to play and learn it’s rules as you go. I spent two games whizzing around the world map unaware you could ZOOM OUT. I was navigating entirely from memory and it was a hell of a lot of fun. Caravan missions left me on the other side of the map like “OK, I better learn what’s good here” while I navigate by road network back to where I was. I had to job my way back to where I started if I wanted to continue building up relationships with employers there. It forces you to think up ways of making money (like trading) hinting but not spelling it out for you. This is part of what makes this game so good IMO.

If you can see how many turns they act in by hovering, then yes a bar should be in place to streamline that.

If it was a designer decision to only let you see the next immediate moves then remove the hover-preview ability.

Insert a speech-selection dilemma to try to team up or keep your guard up [triggers a combined battle vs raiders and beast faction] and i’m sold.

I’ve tried naming my companies to fit in with the setting using German words, relating to banner imagery and borrowing from Norse mythology. The names have been: Bruderschaft (Brotherhood), The War Shafts (three axe banner) and my current play through is with The Right Hand of Tyr (Tyr was the Norse god of justice who’s right hand will be bitten off by Fenrir at Ragnarok).

When the game is released I’ll revisit my first band who sadly fell foul of the fact my save games apart from auto-save don’t work. In a land of Norse, Angles, Saxons and Jutes, Y Rhyfelwyr (The Warriors) will be a band of boyos out for revenge and beer money.

I’ve also had some fun messing with the pregenerated script. I called one band ‘the size of an orange’ leading to lines such as “Cap’n, no one really knows about the size of an orange yet…”

I agree wit this sentiment. The new Ancient Undead faction looks great (and also incredibly, incredibly, hard to fight). The generic and newer undead were challenging and pretty cool. I replayed my one battle against them three times and didn’t win. It would be good to have an undisciplined, shambling undead in the game as a stepping stone, maybe they could just be linked to graveyards and fortresses. The way they were spread out was evocative of newly risen skeletons, still somewhat purposeless – until the player comes into their ken.

    All the best
