Anyone who is not on the border is left behind and dies.
The chance to die when being left behind is big, but they can still survive. Sorry, it’s nitpicking.
About war dogs for the player: usually you’d want to control your war dog like any other brother, right? But that’s not realistic. A dog would just charge into the enemy like an orc, which doesn’t seems very helpful to me.
I though that one brother could equip a war dog as a weapon. This weapon could have 2 skills, a normal attack, “Bite”, and “Release”. With the second skill, a war dog appears on a free hex next to the brother and attacks the closest enemy. After releasing you have no more control over your dog. If the dog survives the battle it is returned into your brothers inventory.Visit the Battle Brothers Wikia
JagoParticipantEdit: Sorry for double post.

JagoParticipantLongsword: Yes, I looked it up, you’re right. It’s a two-handed weapon indeed. In that case it’d fit nicely into the game.
Heavy Crossbow: That, I do know. But how would a cost of 9 AP play out? That way you can only shoot every 2 turns, and part of these shots will miss. Unless the crossbow is extremely powerful I doubt it is actually worth being used at the moment.
Warhammers: That would be a nice addition! Even better than these fantasy things.

JagoParticipantBtw, you always wear a gambeson below your chainmail, so someone wearing chainmail armor is not more prone to blunt attacks than a guy who just wears a gambeson.

JagoParticipant2. Battle Brother should take more resolve tests (not only from ghost scream, but after seeing all super natural creatures
There will be more monstrous enemies added later.

JagoParticipant1)I agree that there could be more weapons that deal bleeding damage, but armor bypass for these weapons is alright. It’s important to keep these low-damage weapons relevant.
2)Why not? Might be very similar to the shortsword though.
3)The longsword was not a two-handed weapon. I think there are already plenty sword types in the game, but maybe the falchion could become a weaker war cleaver and the longsword could take its place.
4)Yes, please! More ranged melee weapons are planned.
5)Yup, why not?
6)Instead of higher AP cost, I would add more fatigue with each reload, so you can still fire one shot each turn and reload. You’d just tire faster.
7)Shouldn’t be better against armor than a hunting bow. Otherwise crossbows become obsolete. Otherwise yes, I’d like that. Maybe call it a warbow instead.
8)Yes, please. Maybe as a weapon for a barbarian human faction.
9)Instead of leaving it in front of you, you can place it on the field you are standing. Every unit standing there counts as partially in cover. Also it can only be carried with both hands.
10)Adding obstacles to the battlefield sounds a little OP. Maybe it could just slow down attackers.
11)There’s already a two-handed axe. It’s fine.
12)Two-handed warhammers would be cool, as long as they have an respective high minus on the max. fatigue.
13)Tripping enemies. How different would that be from stunning?
14),15) and 16): There won’t be armor types from the 14th and 15th century. If the game had it setting in the real world it would be somewhere between 1066-1300AD.

JagoParticipantNone of this is going to happen, at least not in the main game.
Just wait for the modding support… ;)But war dogs are on their way as companions for bandits.

JagoParticipant2) You will be able to hire blacksmiths and healers as no-combat companions who speed up the repairing and healing. Of course they cost you crowns every day.
3) From what I understand, there will be Battle Sisters. Could be still some way down the road though.
4) Well, if you were a traveling band of heroes that would make sense. But we’re all mercenaries here, it wouldn’t quiet fit the style. But you might be able the level up your no-combat companions instead.
5) What should they do instead? Not running away? Maybe enemies could retreat by reaching the maps border, so archers/leftovers can leave when the odds turn against them. Thus the battle would be over faster. Imo it’s fine the way it is now.
6) This was suggested before and the devs have taken note of it. The entire world map should allow more interaction.
7) It’s all work progress. Map size will increase.
8) Yes, that’s being worked on, too.
9) I’d prefer the weapon durability the way it is now. You can always carry a secondary weapon with you if you think that your first weapon will break.
10) I’ve heard about bola-lassos for the Goblins. Might be wrong though.
11) Yes, the end game is currently work in progress, like pretty much everything else. There will tougher enemies, the invasion of a greater evil and the hunt for legendary artifacts to keep you entertained.
12) Leveling up your resolve could help. True, there are not many enemies in the game yet that attack your morale, but there will be.
13) Maybe~

JagoParticipantKeep trying. I had troubles, too, at first but got used to it. Also most battles in the campaign don’t have so complex terrain like the “Defend the Hill” scenario, so you will be fine.
Highlights aren’t very good for the immersion. The game really tries not to use flashy colours or lines. That’s why you can hide the healthbars with alt. But tooltip could work.

JagoParticipantFrom what I understand though, different levels of quality for weapons will eventually get introduced. So that should help you counter weapons breaking by spending more gold on higher quality weapons that (supposedly) are more sturdy. This is just a hypothetical though, as I don’t know how they plan to implement it.
Wow, really? That would be great!
Aye. As long as the inventory stays clearly arranged and you can easily distinguish between the higher and lower quality weapons.Visit the Battle Brothers Wikia
JagoParticipantSometimes I wonder if English-speaking people like to use German words in RPGs because it sounds exotic. The same way companies in Germany adopt English terms and slogans for their products, because it sounds fancy and modern.
It also hurts my eyes when I see english speaking people writing words like wiederg a nger or zweih a nder (which simply does mean two-handed sword nothing fancy so why bother with a word they can´t even spell right?).
Maybe it’s more interesting for English-speaker? Worry not, it’ll be “fixed” in the German localization. ;)

JagoParticipantLets say there is a pack of werewolfs following you ok, that is fine they are hungry so ok they hunt you til they get you, but when you cross an easier target, they should just take *insert random puny caravan here* for example.
Isn’t that already the case? I think I managed to outrun a group of werewolves because they choose a caravan as new target.

JagoParticipantI´ll answer your wink with a serious analysis. 😉
[…]XD
Yeah, that would work. It’s not difficult to make the fluff sound logical. For example orc bones could be to heavy for the spells to work properly. Or orcs possess a natural resistance against magic, even in death.

JagoParticipantUsually I’m all for more. But saving and quitting would be terrible.
Eh? Did I misunderstood something? I though save’n’quit means, you can save whenever you want, but only if you leave the game. Upon continuing you start where you stopped. And the save is ereased. Where is the save-scumming?
Visit the Battle Brothers Wikia
JagoParticipantOh well. To be honest I didn’t quiet read everything. It’s a wall of ranting and your comparisons with pizza and games I’ve frankly never heard about (and I probably wouldn’t care about) is tiresome.
Giving the player the option to reload and redo every little action would give people the wrong impression of what this game actually tries to achieve: being a medieval XCOM.
People should not believe that save-scumming is encouraged, nor a normal part of the game.Visit the Battle Brothers Wikia
