The sword looks really nice. But one thing should be noted. A sword without a pommel is a really bad thing. Because the pommel is the part which holds everything together.

    Hello, everyone!

I joined the Battle Brotherhod quite recently. But here are my suggestions =/

    No plot

There’s no plot or objective in a game. I played the hardest difficulty level. At a certain point the game becomes boring. When you can beat everyone on the map and there’s no other ambition for you. You can’t establish your own city/caste/estate or conquer your own kingdom or county.

    Turn-based world map

The Fighting system is one of the best I’ve ever seen. The World map is not. Let’s be honest. Your target audience is not those who choose “Whitcher” or “Dota”. You make game for those try-hards who play chess, df, Banner Saga, HoMM and table-top party games. Give them an opportunity to control several different squads of battle brothers, build villages and strongholds. World map as it is can not provide such opportunity.

And Thanks for the Battle Brothers, guys. I really enjoy your Game! =)

Hello and welcome in the Brotherhood withou… erhm I mean in the Battle Brothers Community.
Please don´t get me wrong but it hurts a bit to see people writing suggestions that are thought through but at the same time you realise that they did not even read the store page infos. There will be a plot. What you are playing right now is the scaffolding of the game to come.

    Coming features

    Worldmap story and progression mechanic.
Non-combat characters for your mercenary company.
    Scavenger-hunts for legendary artifacts.
A dynamic event system with atmospheric encounters and tough decisions outside of combat.
Indoor tactical combat environments, such as dungeons.
    A fully skinned UI.
More content: More enemies, terrain types, items, contracts, character backgrounds and at least one additional major enemy faction acting in the world.

This is what is stated there and if you also take a look here http://battlebrothersgame.com/strategic-worldmap/ you will notice that right at the bottom of the list there is the BIG plot this game will be about. An invasion by one of the enemie factions which can be orcs, undead, beasts…

Also this game is definitely not about building castles and founding cities or even forging kingdomes. You are playing as a wandering mercenary band. You go where the jobs are. You are not leading a crusader chapter with an Ordensburg (interesting there is no english word for this)

For me it already has though it is not even finished. 60hrs on record for a yet unfinished game does tell something about how well done it is already.

Would be cool to be able to make some sort of lower or medium grade armor from these pelts. Think of some kind of werewolfheaddresses like the romans had (ok they used normal wolfs of course ;) )

    https://www.pinterest.com/pin/392728029979191738/

Something like this. Take a medium helmet add the pelt and let it give a litte resolve bonus in addition to the normal helmetstats to the man wearing it as it reminds him that even beasts like these can be slain.

And think of hardened werewolfleatherarmor nearly equally to padded leather but aswell with this small resolve bonus with the same given explanation.
Would be good to have more variation in armors.
I know this is only content and not core game mechanic so it will have to wait until later. But would be nice if something like this would come up. This would make it more rewarding to fight werewolfs in the early game or atleast it would make for a good story ;) and this is what this game is about.

Since we’ve yet to add more range-oriented enemies with the goblins, who could pose a serious problem for a build that specialized, we’ll probably leave Nimble alone for now. The Swordmaster, like most backgrounds, will also receive some fitting events on the worldmap, which in his case could mean that age catches up with him.

Oh no I sense “Barristan the Bold-moments” incomming

It would mean +10 to everything on full level instead of another useful perk. Seems like an ok trade to me. You could aswell make a +5 to all and let it give a +1 to half of the stats every two levelups and +1 on the other half in the level ups between. So it would not be an impact as big as the first version. + It would synergize with colossus. more hp * 1,25 > less hp * 1,25

Why not simply give that perk “+1 for all stats for every levelup the char has” and not only at levelup so it would be dynamic AND you would not have to pick it up on the first level up, if you don´t want to at this point. This way the perk would always scale and still usefull if picked up later

They have a game to develop but worry not, they are reading everything though they don´t always have time to respond. ;) AND you already had GOD responding to you. This is something most christians cannot say for themselves ;)

I don´t think you have to feel dirty for saying this. Maybe Hollywood wanted to give that impression as it is not only a film producing factory but also a propaganda machinery.

But when it comes to foreign languages the more they differ from our own and the less we are used to them the more alien they sound to us. This leads to misinterpretations. I do have some friends who come from former Sovjet Union states. They almost lived their whole life in germany. You would not notice where they come from. But as their parents spoke russian in the first place and usually have a bit more problems learning a new language their german is not as well. So they do speak russian at home. And from my point of view every littly small talk sounds like an argument. Mostly because of the lack of understanding as I only know a few words in russian. Many americans might have similar problems with the german language for the same reason.

You mean the mercenary band getting xp when winning battles doing quests and so on and therefore getting little utility bonuses? This sounds interesting.
This could then be supplemented by the choosen followers.

No I have never seen one leaving, but hovering your mouse over the difficulty when starting a new game shows you an explanation what the difficulty does. That is where I have my information from. ;)

Sometimes I wonder if English-speaking people like to use German words in RPGs because it sounds exotic. The same way companies in Germany adopt English terms and slogans for their products, because it sounds fancy and modern.

Yes, that´s right but all too often they overdo it with anglicisms or doing it totally wrong. Could you guess what a Back-Shop is? xD
Also many older people who didn´t learn english in school have problems with this development as they don´t understand anything.

Maybe it’s more interesting for English-speaker? Worry not, it’ll be “fixed” in the German localization. 😉

I don´t really need a german localization as I understand english quite well. Speaking and writing in english on the other hand is an other story ;)

Sometimes I wonder if English-speaking people like to use German words in RPGs because it sounds exotic. The same way companies in Germany adopt English terms and slogans for their products, because it sounds fancy and modern.

Exoticism is a major reason that english speakers use foreign words, yes. No on in their right mind would pay 10$ for grilled flat bread with melted cheese inside, but if you call it a quesadilla (I cannot spell the word) and suddenly it’s a “cultural experience”. That said, sometimes it really is a matter of the english language not having a similar word, but in this case we usually just steal it wholesale and make it an english word. English is a bastard language, after all.

Revenant, for instance, is just the french verb for returning. It’s been an english word for ages now, but it was certainly stolen (adopted would probably be a better word, given how heavily french influenced english) initially. I find the history of english words to be very interesting, honestly.

The difference between “ask”, and “demand” for instance, comes from the relationship between the Saxons and their Norman rulers. “Demand” is (with some spelling differences, perhaps?) the french word for request. Both “ask” and “demand” essentially mean the same thing, with the difference between them being mostly in the insinuated relationship between the requester and the requestee. A Saxon would “ask” another Saxon for something, while a Norman would “demand” it. Saying no to the Norman wasn’t really an option, even if he was being very polite. 😛

Interchaning words between languages is a normal thing. Not normal is the speed at which this happens right now which is a symptom of the ongoing globalization I think.

And I found your explanation about the origin of these words quite interesting.
