ParticipantCome on guys, do share your thoughts.
Sky
ParticipantThere is a balance atm with the perk trees, by allowing your kind of accessebility to tier 2 this balance will fall apart instantly. You can make fearsome combinations with tier 2 perks of two trees, now with ability to access all three of the trees will get not jack-of-all-trades but terminators. And that is quite the opposite the game stands for atm I feel. You have to chose carefuly if you wish to get a specific result, or go all random and it will be still valid but none of them will be overpowered.
Women characters will come “soon” if I understood correctly.

ParticipantAt the start of this game the world felt alive, realy alive. Caravans roaming the roads, patrols going around defending, enemy raiding parties popping up here and there. But after a time everything dies out. No more busy roads, rare partrools, almost no enemy hunting parties, just few strong raids that destroying the same settlement over and over. Seems like the caravans stop spawning after they die(once per route), the raiders stop roaming around the roads (since there are no more caravans?), the patrols stop actively going out (since there is no enemy?)…
There is a tremendous difference in world feel between the very start and now around day 23. It all well might be due lack of things implemented and will solve itself later on.

ParticipantMore Exploits. While escorting a caravan or following an npc group arround you can time an attack on an enemy camp so that the npcs will be drawn into the fight. After that all you have to do is to back off so the npcs arrive and fight the enemy. This can easily be avoided by reducing the caravans “aggro” range or perhaps limit the help only to stronger caravans while the npc patrols are logicaly ok.
III) Same job target
Quite frequently seeing multiple delivery jobs in one settlement targeting an other one. For example now there are 2 job givers and both give a delivery to the same town where one of them pays 10 gold more. Sometimes, tho rarely there are all three pointing to the same city with different reward.Sky
ParticipantIf there is an absolute need for an avatar representation then definitely as an npc whom you could customize the hell out as newromance suggests. But if there is no need then it would just be more of a confusion than an improvement.

ParticipantThe ap cost of 2 per item as the quick hands has now makes the skill useless absolutely. The scenarios in which it could be useful are too rare to take this perk. The simpliest way is to limit it’s use to one per turn for no ap and the secound per turn for 2 ap while all other for 4 ap as without the skill. This way even 2h users will be able to switch freely to a weapon OR shield for free while paying 2ap for the other hand item. It is fast to draw one thing but slower to draw two items while in fight(since you used the speed argument for the facing of characters). Maybe you can solve it with in game mechanics by adding an active quick hand part that is a one per turn free use buff or like dodge once a battle till triggered(less powerful but still ok), while the core perk remains with half cost.
As it stands now, taunt and shield bash are pretty unfunctional, quick hands too, student is a nice trade off skill for early n midgame, while pathfinder and bags are definetely more worth than the others since they benefit from start and even more to the end when the fatigue is gold and ap with fast moving can change a battle.

ParticipantII) Exploiting the AI
After starting a new company found a simple way to exploit the AI. In any encounter be it a caravan or guard fight all you have to do is deliver the killing blow. Most efficient way is to move your bandits just outside the enemy zone and wait till their armor and hp drops low enought to 1shot them. Then just jump in 1 hex and deliver the killing blow, robbing the npcs not only from the whole loot but all the exp aswell. It even opens an opportunity for the enemy to kill off some friendlies so you gain even more spoils. Even not being a bug, thought this is the best place to post it.PS. Attached the save file archive for the no spawn of anything.

ParticipantThat’s how I did understand it too, since with 2h the secound hand is used this perk won’t work. Seems like there was a bug in it. Not anymore ;)

ParticipantWell, after this balancing update I do belive that there is a problem with hands perks. Unfortunately there is almost no difference in gameplay when changing ap cost for the perk between 4 without and 2 with. Now the perk quick hands in unvalid. If it had a limitation once per turn, there would be no problem at all. Now as it is with the 2ap cost there is just no need to take it at all. Usually when you already engaging the attack is 4ap, you can not move so paying 4 or 2 ap while switching makes no difference whatsoever (unless from a 2h to shield +1h). On the other hand when you are not in enemy zone then its again not so much of a difference since you can easily afford 4 instead of 2.
About bags. At this point the gameplay will suffer more than the players gain from beig over realistic. Besides, check out the medieval warefare, having two weapons and two shields was ok even in our history. Different troops had different weapon setups. It is not rare to see 2h with secoundary 1h and a shield. Same goes for 1h and shielders having a xbow or other means of midrange attack.
Feel like while the bags now are good the quick hands became useless.

ParticipantNow these have a real feel in them! Nice work indeed!
Sky
ParticipantDo you mean Fun, in the Dwarf Fortress sense? That sounds absolutely brutal.
Any challenge is fun. Absolutely bored of hero games where you do not even have to do anything, and it was a miracle to find this game and just as I thought I have lots of fun even now. Since the start of EA all I’ve seen point to a very fine complete game from a very fine studio. And that is fun too! Hell I’ll be damned if I miss out this one ;)

ParticipantDa boyz hunt humans no rabid.
Sky
ParticipantLucky you, had the same in reverse just a while back. 30 bandits on the cliffs around ten marksman pouring arrows while I try to get up. Lots of fun!

ParticipantYou’re playing the leader of a company who doesn’t fight with the company. At every other point in the game you get a list of available people to pick from. You can see how they look and their background, just not their extra traits and their stats. Why couldn’t that be done at the start? How would that damage the narrative?
Once again I do agree with GoD. This game should be tight. Yeah sure it would be cool to have a free roaming sandbox where you have no limitations and everything is in it while the world plays itself and you. But that would take a lot larger dev team, a lot more resources, and a lot more time. At the end it would be an absolutely different game. Still I do think that there is place for a customization to a certain degree, where you can perhaps change the appearance and the quantity of the starting brothers, the starting background with considerable limitations, and maybe some equipment. Having all these bound in to a starting point pool. Where the simple start involves random using the whole pool aviable, while the custom could chose between things even making one starting member but perhaps a bit stronger with a better gear. Again, that should not involve the traits. And the player choises should be limited so there will be no hedge knights and swordmasters running around. Tho even that couldn’t be too bad. Needs a lot of though and consideration from the devs. It will determine the whole early game, and might throw off the whole balance making it necessary to rebalance a lot of things.
I do agree that it is nice to see what people you get before naming the group. Also adding more difficulity lvls that will change the starting party power lvl aswell as the gold.
To answer how would it damage the narrative, we need to wait till there will be more seen from the game. At this moment we can see only the very base of the game, without any story, any lore, any events. Just a naked world to build upon. At this moment it could not damage it, but if you read some of the plans the devs already have, and i’m sure even more after they release the roadmap, there will be lots of things the heavy suctomization may or even might not collide.
M&B has some similarities like the world map or the hiring of other fighters to fight alongside you, tho I still consider them entirely different. The difference is that M&B is a FPS, you play as you and have no direct controll over the troops, only throught orders and equipment for hero units, you controll yourself always and everywhere. If not familiar with M&B anyone cab always hit youtube and look. On the other hand, here in BB you aren’t directly represented. To be honest you aren’t a leader of the company per say, but there are no other options to make the player as some sort of a common conscious shared between the band members but as is. However you can make yourself a leader, a member, and fight with your fellow comrades, tho it requires a lil RP. If you wish you can simply make one of the dirty dozen an avatar of yourself who will be there but will do nothing but give the aura effects so to say he will be “commanding” the band.
Sky
ParticipantNo matter what I did or how long I waited the settlement spawns never started again.
