Thanks for the kind reply, Paul.

Love Gun! :'( I only missed it by a couple of letters, after over 30 years since I seriously spoke Deutsch, can’t you cut me a little slack?

Anyway, the post did what I wanted, generated some discussion and suggestions for alternate names, if the devs want to do that.

    How about “Vordern Legion(s)”?

I’m still stumped by Orcs and Goblins, though. Maybe “elf” … I don’t know how to do umlauts, and I’m sure this one is wrong, but I remember a cool song about the Elfking. “Erl” or “Orl” … but those aren’t right, just a bad Anglicization of the sound. When I think of Scandinavian or Germanic elves, the impression is more of a goblin-like creature.

The orcs could be seen as a type of Troll, is there any sort of word for a troll-like creature that would work?

Of course, I can only speak for what sounds cool for a American English speaker. And over here, we only get things like “bigfoot”, or “skunkape”. :-P

Ulrich! Don’t you remember the “Inverse Female Armor Rule” in ALL fantasy gaming?

“The protection a female receives from armor is inversely proportional to the amount of skin the armor covers.” It surely follows that female warriors in full armor get taken out by a small stick, but naked female warriors cannot be damaged by normal melee weapons! :-P

IF they do females, I’d like to see a small number of actual warriors, a slightly larger number of missile specialists, but mostly support personnel like cooks, medics & “ladies of the night” that grant strength, health, & morale bonuses respectively … if you can afford them!

Ummm … this is totally off topic!

As far as an end game goes, the only one I can picture is the eventual slaughter of all the humans, based on how hard it is to kill Orc Warriors and Warlords. Assuming I could survive an End Game (VERY shaky assumption!), I’d like to see something like the Total War series does … you can just keep on going if you want … or maybe move to a new game map? It would be nice to start a game with a kick-ass company!

The “not-ghoul-but-eaters-of-the-dead” designs are great! As I don’t have a preconceived notion on these creatures, and orcs and goblins have so many incarnations in so many fantasy settings, I don’t get hung up on that, too. I never saw or heard any game-related releases saying, “Tolkein-esque Orcs & Goblins!” (which then makes me wonder, “books or movies?”) Don’t sweat it.

I do like “Weiderganger”, though. I just wish my Deutsch wasn’t so rusty that I can’t remember the roots of the word. :-(

If you do change names, please pick, or make them like “Weiderganger”. I suspect there’s a very specific meaning for that “auf Deutsch”, but I have no idea, so I just think, “Weiderganger! What a kick-ass name!” ;-)

Hmmm … “Eaters-of-the-dead” … that wouldn’t be so bad. But all I can think of is, (PLEASE!! forgive me, Deutsch speakers!) “Todenessenern”? :-?

Anyway, it all looks better and better! (HOWEVER, I didn’t see a skunk banner in the last update … :-P)

These are so awesome, great work!!! Is the fourth one a Nithing Pole??

Exactly (emoji deleted – too big!!)

Oh Sweet Doggies!! A Nithing Pole!! The implications of seeing that are quite interesting.

Yeah, these are well thought out. They project the perfect message any self respecting bandits/evil types want to exude!

It’s odd, but I don’t miss a specific player avatar. I try to keep my “founders” alive as long as I can, unless they’re complete losers. Now that I can switch out the front line(s), I’m having a good time trying to ease new recruits up to the higher levels.

I’d be inclined to deck out my avatar with the best gear he could manage, so it’s probably a good thing I don’t have one. Come to think of it, I tend to play the founders as “equal partners”, so they tend to have the best gear. But, it’s always my tactics that make or break a contract, so I don’t miss a personal avatar.

Back when the perk description was written, there were no permanent injuries. I’ve just been assuming that any perk description not explicitly saying that it will work regardless of injuries isn’t going to counter or negate any injuries of any sort.

That being said, a more explicit description would be helpful now that the injury system is active.

Since the last big update, I’ve been playing as “St. Attila’s Grenadiers” (The gauntlet banner … “1, 2, 5!” “Three, Sire!”) and “The Paw Patrol” (wolf’s paw on red & white bars). I just can’t seem to make myself come up with a serious name, even though I play it seriously.

I don’t know if it’s capped or not, but it’s based on the number of crowns you have.

I think the most it ever happened was about 4 times in one of my games *before* the last big update.

Maybe it’s a subtle incentive to spend on better upgrades instead of hording the loot?

Paul, excellent work on the Enemy banners! This game just keeps looking better and better!

I was looking at the image library, specifically the shields and the thought hit me: is it possible to use some of the new banner designs on some of the shields? That would look sweet!

Rap, when you mention “Game Overlay”, would that include the Steam overlay? As this is a Radeon HD series, it reminded me of that mysterious crash I was having a couple of weeks back.

“On another feature, what in the world do we do in this new Orc Free For All mission? There’s 19 orcs, appears to be 2 sides, 1 sizably weaker , both hostile, I mean, so do I, try to take advantage of the infighting? It was out of nowhere.”

Yeah, that was in the last update. Scared the hell out of me when I was suddenly in the middle of 23 orcs! I pulled into the best defensive setup I could manage, took potshots at orcs that were in range with my crossbowmen and waited … eventually, they whittled themselves down quite a bit. It was funny to see some of the orcs torn between attacking me, or their enemy orcs. None of them united.

I’ve only seen it a few times since. But it is kind of nerve wracking.
