MalthusParticipantExactly that was the thread I was talking about. Didn´t know anymore what its headline was and didn´t find it then.
Thanks for letting me know the right word ;)
"I am a Paladin!"
>OMG, Malthus, there are no damn paladins in Battle Brothers...<
"OK, OK! Then I´m a wrecked down minstrel drunkard pretending to be a paladin, singing so wrong in the midst of battle that even the undead run in fear... Better?!"
MalthusParticipantThe second one I mentioned would not be as out of place as many may think. Trial by combat was a common practice in medival times. Here are some more informations http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trial_by_combat (or in german for those who do not speak english that well http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerichtskampf)
This has also been very well displayed in game of thrones for several times though with the difference that these fights also could be fought by surrogates (i hope this is the right word in this case). Do you remember the fight between Ser Vardis and Bronn?"I am a Paladin!"

MalthusParticipantThe player cannot become a bandit, take over cites, castles, towers or villages or use magic.
To 1 When attacking a bandid hideout there already are named bandid leaders. I don´t know if this is what you mean exactly. Otherwise you need to be more precise.
To 2 No you cannot. Though it would make for a good total conversion or Addon to play as a different faction. But it would need tons of work to really feel different from what we are doing right now. This won´t happen within the next year if ever.

MalthusParticipantTactics: Use shields, wear armor, get your max fatique and melee rating up. For the fighting try to watch some lets plays. Most of the time you will see how not to do it but learn from it.
Caravans cannot be attacked. Atleast not now. Not sure if it will be possible in the future.
No you cannot build castles.
Orcs are some of the hardest enemies. Atleast the mature one. The young orcs are something between bandid thugs and raiders. To avoid their charge you have two possible ways. Wait the first turn til they close in on you. They are not near enough to reach you at that time. When they all had their turn, move you mercs on them. As soon as they are in you zone of control they cannot charge anymore. The other way is pulling back to get into a better defensive position. Use chokepoints on the map if possible or higher ground. They might stun you but have a hit penalty."I am a Paladin!"

MalthusParticipant@ Dyderich: You knew you were buying a game that is in alpha state. This is what EA means. The game is neither feature complete nor is it balanced right now. If this is what you are complaining about the fault is on your side…

MalthusParticipantI hope you use some axes too. In my opinion they are a must have when dealing with any kind of enemy that uses shields. They deal good damage and can split shields. Though they build up more fatique. This works especially good in combination with bilhooks in the back. Split their shields and then crush them with the bilhook.

MalthusParticipantOk I made a litte picture to visualize what I mean. The one using the weapon is on the green spot and his swing attack would hit the red spots. But to make that attack possible, the yellow spots have to be empty. Something like this.

MalthusParticipantAnd I already had hopes for a legendary armor looking like a roman lorica segmentata. :(

MalthusParticipantTo 3: Might it be possible that we get a melee 2hex range weapon with a swing attack 2 hex away if the hex between you and your enemies are empty?

MalthusParticipantOk now that I got some sleep I remember something else. That Z was reanimated BUT he could be attacked at first. He stood on another dead Z. When that second one reanimated he was moved one tile away. This was when he became an invalid target.

MalthusParticipantIt is in. You already fight against Necromancers.
But the player himself will never wield magic. The nearest he gets to using magic will be in using rare artefacts which may inhabit certain effects. But no flying fireballs and such things.

MalthusParticipantAs there already is such a thread it cannot hurt to also give my two cents.
I have waited a long time to get my hands on this game and though it is an alpha version it is damn impressive even at this point. Seeing your ongoing communication and cooperation with your community is something I have not yet seen in any other case. Very few would work day and night hunting bugs like on a killing spree and in the same moment take the time to chat in all the forums, it´s like there are not three of you but 30 ;) and all this even on a holiday.

MalthusParticipantThere should be a way to help these locations to get back on their feet again. Right now they run dry pretty fast and never get back up.
Either they should be buffed, so they are able to protect themselves and their caravans a bit better without the help of the battle brothers. Or give them some sort of contracts that restocks some resources when finished.
More patroles (maybe make them cheaper so the sites can spawn more) that solely watch for safety on the roads.
And these restock contracts could be the city ordering you to kill the bandidhideout that raided them, you get your share of it and they get most of their wares back."I am a Paladin!"
