SarissofoiParticipant
Have the same issue. Just reporting.
SarissofoiParticipantHello.
First I want to thank you for a new update. The changes to economy and slower gear progression is what I suggest many times before and it make me happy that they work well.
Also I like new increase in difficulty.
The Goblin facton is great addition too. They definitely are dangerous and can be deadly. Their military feel like full profesional compared to orcs or humans.
#If I can suggest split Goblin Skirmishers between Goblin Skirmishers(thrown weapons) and Goblin Footmen(pikes and spears). With main bulk of the bigger forces become the Footmen?
#Also maybe addition of Goblin Marauders/Militia for lower tier neutral goblin camps to let lower level brothers enjoy squashing goblin menace. My biggest feel why many people feel that goblins are OP is that human militias are extremly weak.
The village militias should be much better armed like they are prety wealthy farmers with their sons and workers so they should actualy afford or make some decent equipment.
#Like basic militiamen should have some cap some decent light armour and spear+shield with sidearm combo. Retired soldiers and richer farmers(family heads) should have mail and better weapons. Plus some billhooks users and archers. They defend their lives lands and family so they should at last prepare for it.
#Other thing is that the villages militia should be more static and smaller hostile forces pursuing player band shouldn’t be easily baited to fight with them.
#City militia should be more professional. It is centre of commerce so they can craft better stuff and afford full paid garrison. Their garrison should be numerous and well armed but stationary. Small enemy parties should keep distance from city so player band can hide in safety.
Decreasing aggresivness of enemy band would also reduce using city or village militias exploit.Overall I have great fun. Hope update for map and contracts will come soon. Also waiting for undead remake. Keep the good work.
SarissofoiParticipantHey.
I tested your suggestion but it didn’t help.
The music is fine, this bug only affects sound effects.
Sometimes its work well, sometimes sound is more silent, sometimes there is no effect at all.
It was like that from the last update before update with events.
I will try to reinstall game when I get some time and post effects.
Cheers.SarissofoiParticipantThe torture or other stuff I find unnecessary for a world game building. Sure it happen but I don’t really see this as a form of mechanic.
There is no ‘Company morale’ feature so there is no reason for having mechanics to get it higher. And even if there were one I find that getting people some extra alcohol, food rations or bonus pay will motivated them more than some torture on random guys(that they probably would do off screen anyway and don’t tell anyone).
On the other hand, slaves.
The medieval Europe banned slave trade. The Christian part of it. But there was still slave trade and slave raids against them done by muslim Berbers Turks and Tatars.
There are not muslims in this game but there are bandits and orcs(also undead).
#Bandits can abduct people so they can force them to work for them for free. It could be a part of their economy alongside from tributes from villages and protection money from traders(no need to kill your source of income – its no wise anyway).
#Orcs can abduct people for the same reason. If they are a ‘Amazon ants’ faction(or warrior – and it looks like they are) they still need somebody to work for them and grow the food. Slaves are perfect for that.
So orcs raid not only to prove their worth(in fight) but also to make some profit. Stealing livestock of any species and killing guard dogs of any kind sounds like a right job for an Orc.>Now i gonna shock some people:
Personally I really dislike idea of undead faction in current shape.
Why you ask?
First vampires or ghouls are OK with me. The other not so much.
#Vampires.
They are some species that have inhuman powers and feed on blood. Fine with me. Immortal or semi immortal make perfect leaders for enslaved human faction. The court of vampires ruling over masses of enslaved humans with help of possessed/brainwashed caste of warriors(Janissaries). It make now pretty clear why Vlad Palownik stick some Turks on stake. Jokes aside – its more reasonable for vampires ruling over humans than having zombies or skeletons, for a simple reason humans are perfect source of fresh blood.
Also it will give vampires much more personality than they have now. Make them as a sort of sultan court with human Janissaries and other slave troops. Their raiders come to steal people and animals. They could have economy based on slave labour and caste system. Some of their human slaves can be fanatical when other can be just opportunistic. Some of them can use alchemic potions(based on vampires blood) to become stronger fighters(making them go after you even if they are killed – going back from dead just to kill you). There can be a lot of flavour for this faction. Right now we have some generic undead.
>Not happy with this.
#Ghouls.
As a nocturnal scavengers that lurk in shadow and night make a perfect sense to me. They are great for a low fantasy setting too. Make them having lairs ruled by Queens or Matriarchs, move mostly by night, scavenge battlefields for fresh corpse, steal sheep and chickens from peasants(or unlucky peasants if the ghouls are lucky).
They can also make(because they are cunning but still animals) perfect soldier-beasts for vampires. Vampires feed on blood, ghouls feed on flesh. The more primitive, brutal or dumb vampires can easily take control of ghoul pack and make them their servants(thanks to mind control trick and inhumane vampire powers).
Ghouls fit perfectly well as a ‘wild beast’ threat, renegade/exiled vampire bodyguards or as a part of ‘undead realm’.
And that lead us to two most offenders.
#Skeletons.
They are ANIMATED bones. MAGIC involved. If you have skeletons – golems(or gargoyles) are not far away. How they move? They have no flesh, no muscles. They do not eat, no drink. They have no brain. Pure magic. For a non magic settings they are really poor choice.
>Yes I am looking at you with disdain right now German bros.
#Zombies.
The zombies. I don’t really mind them much. Thing is that they not fit that much in the settings. Sure they provide a generic enemy but that is all. They are now slow, low damage rather hard to kill enemy but only thing that they have going for them is their reanimation skill. Not mention that I am little tired on zombies(they shouldn’t really be in a medieval setting).
>Not mention that people aren’t fools. If skeletons or zombies where real you would find that there are no graveyards because are bodies are burned to the last bones or at last their bones are crushed, tied and bodies decapitated(as it happen for real in areas where there was some suspicious of vampires).
So yeah. Slavery is a thing. Not mention that it can add few backgrounds like a ‘Former slave’ or ‘Runaway slave soldier’, become basis for a few quests like ‘Free the slaves’ or ‘Check what happened to my peasants’. It can also become a part of real world economy and lore building.SarissofoiParticipantUsually I try get some better brothers fast. They have better stats and usually better equipment.
Better defence and melee skills are essential. If you have less brothers all your guys level faster.
Then just add another higher tier mercenary.
Few easy missions and I can get few solid characters with decent weapons then its hard to lose unless you charge at large amount of orcs.
On start better focus on few good guys than large number of weak under equipped.
Or so I learn.
There is currently no reason to not get professionals soon as possible.SarissofoiParticipantThe thing is that after some point money stop being a issue. And professionals have much higher potential and end statistic.
Higher cost is just to make non professional character viable.
Current economy let player earn quick bucks really fast making non pros characters obsolete fast. Some proposition of quick fix to prevent this.
#make armours more costly compared to weapons(after all well made armour was really costly), increase armour price 2 times for soft and 3 or 4 times for metal
#make repairs of metal armour more costly in tools(like 2 times)
#make armour to be destroyed like a weapons are(when they reach 0 durability), it add some more micro but it consistent with weapons and make keeping company alive more costly
#lower chance for looting armour from enemies or dead characters(make some armours non lootable(destroyed) if they are on red duralbity)
#make orc weapons worthless for human traders(they are to crude and too heavy for troops to use and really I wonder who will pay good money for this), instead make orcs drop ears/arms/heads that can be sell like ghouls teeth(so its simple bounty hunting), they can even vary in worth like low worth for young ones but high for boss one.
#lower cash player get for weapons to like 1/4 current price and make some simple weapons9like knifes or sticks or pitchforks) worthless
#lower cash player get for sold armour to 1/2(you can still sell it for current price but it is more costly to buy or loot and repair one)
##After all mercenary company are not traders, they have no time or no connections to get better price for this stuff.
#Increase maximum body count in company(having more people to pay and less cash from loot will make low upkeep brothers more valuable even if they have worse stats), it also allow for player to have some spares and train replacement even when front line is still alive
#expand and fix questing, now its just boring and have little connection with game worldSarissofoiParticipantMy three pennies.
##First tier(from best to most disliked):Great:
#Pathfinding – great perk that increase mobility in hard terrain greatly, also reduce fatigue cost of moving on it
#Quick hands – another great perk, must have if you go into utility threeBad:
#Student – let character gain level faster, when have no effect of its performance and is worthless on maximum level its have some use if you want level up some characters quickly9like you lost your sergeant with rally the troops perk)Terrible:
#Shield bash – worthless, bonus to small to have any use
#Taunt – is it even work? My high resolve ‘Rally the troops’ characters are armed with pikes or billhooks so its have no use for me
Personally dislike them:
#Bag end pelts – only use them on archers(for additional arrows), perk is great but feel very cheap like cheating to carry weapons for any situation, my main line soldiers only carry side arm(daggers mostly or some portable weapon no two handers or shields) so it have no use in my company##Second tier
Great one:
#Weaponmaster – my favourite, it lower cost of using weapons and make them lose less durability(lower cost of repairs, less need to carry a spare weapon, no need to constant checking if your weapon gonna break soon), overall good perk for any soldier and it lower need for micromanaging allowing more smoothly gameplay
#Fearsome – second one, must have for my ‘keep the line’ shield bearers, it allow them to rout or soften attitude of orcs and other heavy armoured enemy(mostly orcs), it saved my brothers more than once
#Captain – good for sergeant type characters with high resolve with combination of ‘Rally the troops’Good but not used:
#Battle flow – it is useful perk but again I don’t use itBad:
#Brawny – its offer little compared to other perks on this tier
#Footwork – potentially great but too costly to use, I prefer rotation over it
##Third tier#Rally the troops – great perk, must have for longer fights(I have two characters in company with it)
#Inspiring presence – another great perk, my ‘Company commander’ have it, great synergy with ‘Hold out’ perk(which most of my characters have)
SarissofoiParticipantYou need also take into account that some characters start with better armour and weapon.
So price of recruiting also cover cost of their equipment. So difference in cost between beggar and sellsword is lower than you think.Personally I think that some backgrounds should be even more costly to recruit.
Hopefully when reputation/fame/renown system will go on there be more options for recruiting new characters.
For example:
#nobles or professionals will join only company that have high reputation.
#good characters will only join company who have respectable reputation.
#criminals and bandits would have very low cost in money(or cost nothing at all) but filling your ranks with them will give you bad reputation points(as your company will be seen as safe heaven for outlaws)
Also I really hope that background system will be expanded.
Now character have single background with some possible traits tied to it.
What I would gladly see is something like:
#character class like royalty, high nobility, minor nobility, men-at-arms, free men, serfs, wild men(clansmen), patricians, citizens, commoners, clerics
#then based on their class they get profession
*for example high nobility character could be be a family heir, knight, noble adventurer, squire when minor nobility could be knight, squire, sellsword with but with lower tier equipment for the same professions
#some professions could be tiered so experienced sellsword would have little different bonus statistic than young one.
SarissofoiParticipantI notice the same.
SarissofoiParticipantI wonder if chance to trigger it is increased/decreased based partially on how much damage your character did or how much % of enemy armour was destroyed.
Overall it work well especially if you have many characters with it.SarissofoiParticipant127 hours on Steam.
Not bad for a EA.
One of the best indie game coming alongside with Darkest Dungeon and Starsector.
I play them too. recently I play a ton of a Starsector. Its like a Battle Brothers but in real time and in space. You gather spaceship, command your fleet, hunt pirates or fight military, trade or smuggle. And there of course is a Witcher III.
One of the best game this year. Fighting mechanic is little clunky(like always in Witcher games) but it has great atmosphere and characters.I didn’t play BB like two weeks I think. Game is good at tactical level but is poor at global map. Limited quests, not working economy, no reputationand no personalization. |Just feel like one band show with lack of other actors.
Still tactical battles are great.12. May 2015 at 15:37 in reply to: The more or less jolly adventures of the "The Iron Fist" heroes for hire #3825SarissofoiParticipantKeep the good work.
SarissofoiParticipant
Second Part. Fight against ghouls and some walking.
Third part. More ghouls and some greenskins. Its more like playing delivery boy simulator. Boring. No fun. I played more on another map with another company.
You can get only cheap brothers(no cash to pay the better ones and no cash to sustain them). Losses are hard to replace. No looted weapons mean you can’t easily throw cheap bodies at some raiders and get some of their equipment. Not mention Dead brother mean that his armour is lost too. Fights get you EXP and few coins(or not at all) at cost or repairs, broken equipment and dead brothers.
Berserkers murder you. Raiders kill you. Adult orcs laugh at you when your weapons break at their armour(then they stomp you). Young orcs gonna run through your ranks.
Overall its not bad but I should make some small exception to no looting rules(like one armour/weapon allowed to loot or getting only non damaged items) so I can actually look for the fight.
When it will be possible to get few contacts at once then I will give it another go. Or there will be bounties for named characters and orcish ears and goblin scalps.
But playing with cheap band is simply no fun.SarissofoiParticipantThe Quality of item can be distinguished by colour of weapon. For example:
#Crude Sword is bronze
#Normal is grey.
#Fine is silver.Durability of some weapons is the most important right now.
Maybe you can change a current durability system? Just a idea.
#Weapon that have some durability points behave fine.
#Weapon on zero 0% become dull version(lower stats) and have chance to break with attacks.
#Fix weapon from zero % to 1% cost some additional tools.I would much more prefer just have more durable version of current weapons. Rare and costly.
BTW Personally I really like difference between Short sword and Falchion. One is little better against armour other have little damage. Kinda like side upgrade not forward. Can we get more weapons like that?
SarissofoiParticipantHe mean a spear. I am 110% sure.
Or maybe javelins. Or even billhooks.
Not so sure right now.
Was there update when I was not watching?
Content update?
If not I gonna find this guy and throw him to the ghouls. -
