Very nice Paul! Much more “full of story” than the previous scenes… both groups are interesting and appealing. Low polish gives it a kind of “at a glance” feel which adds to what you would actually see…. I don’t know if I am explaining it well.

You should add women, old ladies selling apples, paid-brother-escorts looking to take a share of the loot or just for a cultist to buy them a beer, medieval towns had all types of merchants that sold (fake) holy relics, pieces of the true cross, there was always someone selling mixtures and concoctions or “potions” at the entrance to towns for instance

Nice Psen! Didn’t know you were using Osprey…. sooo by my weird derivative logic: Battle Brothers 2 will be set in Ancient Roman times? :p

I think like the Orc Warlord, weapons (metal wood would rot) still sticking out of them is a fun debatable art concept :D

A zombie lord needs presence of mind, here are some inspirations:

    ZOMBIE DUKE 1

    ZOMBIE DUKE 2

A returning Crusader theme, dead of lepracy and abandoned by their bretheren could make for a very interesting subfaction:

    ZOMBIE 3

Any ideas for teutonic knights in game?

This is part of the undead faction right? Fantastic “Etruscan” or “Samnite” style armour and helmets…. what do you think of these old-timers using “antique” weapons like slings & bullets, pillae or glaives?

Seriously Psen… the amount of knack you have for drawing skulls would make you think you were either a death metal fan, worked in a morgue, or watched the killing fields one too many times

The only negative thing I can say, and its a matter of taste, I am not a fan of the “van Helsing” or “witch” hats on the Necromancer or Witch Hunter… it probably fits the bill but it feels a bit fairy-taleish

I found out that using maces and stunning wolfriders is good way to deal with them. As wolf and rider gets stunned.

To me that feels like a bug which should be fixed :)

    Can’t someone just clone you?

I already have been cloned :) Jaysen is actually my twin brother :)

Ha! I am a father of 11 months old twins… (OT sorry)

I love the graphics rework in general, its much more engrossing.

With the understanding that this will change, I am not fond of the “stock” starting character setup at present, I really, more than ever want some sort of control over creation… or a return to a subset of random characters.

    MY MAIN POINT:

The animations – I would slow them down, and deepen the sounds to make both impacts and misses more “meaty”… at present its sometime hard to tell of there was an impact or not. Have you thought about playing a metalic sound alternating with an air swish for a miss?

If you slow down the animation 200-250% the whole turn-based joy will unearth itself a bit more… at present it feels a bit “slapstick”

They are too fast to be avoided…. we need some line-of-sight on World Map perks

Haha…. the Company of the Clay Griffon (12 with Caravan Guards) just got obliterated by the 5… its impossible to hit them low tier, and the fact both the mounts and riders attack (which is cool and great) and that you guys are AI geniuses, means that they go straight for my best and slaughter them without obstacle all the time… I suggest keep the goblins as are but give them very fickle (hit and run) morale….

I love the dogs by the way although I was skeptical :)

We will tackle that issue during the worldmap rework. I know its pretty absurd that there arent even snow tiles in the tactical combat right now, but this will be adressed and we want to push it as far as we can.

Can’t someone just clone you? I mean what are we paying for in early access :D ;)

do some grey-skinned orcs as well for variety

    Hey Asterix,
we will have some code driven variations in saturation of the orcs which randomly have more greenish or more greyish colors.
Problem is, we cant go too far with that or the teeth, tongue etc will all turn grey as well.
Alternatively I would have to handcraft more color variations which would be possible, but that also means painting the according dead bodies etc.

I have to be careful with my time, but I’ll see what I manage to achieve ?

Nice insight Psen thanks! Doesn’t sound like a priority…. but I think that for example a real dirt-grey or ash-grey for the older orcs would add a clear menace and earthyness to them :)

The Orcs are superbly reworked!!! Although, we seem a bit stuck on the “greenskin” concept here, I highly suggest you do some grey-skinned orcs as well for variety and (if you push it you could even get 2 factions) it will be easy to “refilter” the same textures to grey but bring a lot of eye candy

I rest my case on the bascinet, which was only “commonplace” in Italy towards the end of the 13th century…. and widespread by the 14th.

BUT my main question was regarding the “grey scale” on orcs and was missed :)
